what made you love to read?

in 10th grade I read to kill a mocking bird and never looked back, Read Captians and kings and had my first book discussion with my Dad, read The Tolkien trilogy and totally escaped. Read Stephen King as they were published with some friends, we were a fan club. Found Jodi Piccolt and Elizabeth Berg, Barbara Kingsolver and Alice Hoffman, Ann Tyler and knew these were as good as all my best girlfriends. John Irving facinates me, Nelson DeMille intrigues me, Pat Conroy breaks my heart.

From the first moment I could read I was not able to stop reading. I was crazy about reading and I was basically reading everything I could find. As I am not a native English speaker I got to English Writing authors a bit later on. But they became my passion. They were the reason why I studied English at university. Faulkner, Fitzgerald, Steinbeck, Shakespeare. When I started work I sort of stopped reading however it came back after my daughter was born. I read almost everything and I tend to return to the books I like. One always seems to discover new things in the books.

I love to read and read everything that I can. I like to read different kinds of books, never sticking to just one type or catagorie. Reading is an adventure that lets me travel anywhere, do anything, or be anybody that I want. It is like a sort of mental vacation from reality. Reading is an addiction for the mind.
