    Iamnasra,

You are right, it has been quiet over here and I apologise for that. As the group admin I should be throwing discussion topics out there and firing up this board - but you know, this thing called life often gets in the way. I'll try and be better in 2008.

To answer your post, hopefully most of the people in this group are authors. So come on guys, if you have any success stories from the past year to contribute - let's hear 'em!

    :-)

      Iamnasra,

Getting reviews is all about persistence and tenacity. In the first instance, you just have to ask. A lot of people will say no, but you'll be surprised how many people will review your book for you.

As a little known author, going for the mainstream press probably isn't your best approach. You can try, but you are probably setting your sights a little high and that will most likely result in disappointment.

I would recommend you seriously research your market. Identify your niche and your readership. For your book, your niche is primarily women and/or those affected by cancer (a large niche, I admit - which gives you lots of options). I'd start looking at Women's health magazines, medical health magazines - see if they do book reviews - and target them. The big stuff will hopefully come later.

      Hope that helps.

I am the author of Pemberley Remembered, my first novel. It is the story of a young American living in postwar London who learns that the characters of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet may be based on real people. While meeting new people in her search, she falls in love with an American who flew bombers over Germany in WWII.
