    Introducing Myself

Hi everybody, I've been reading true crime since I was 16. My first book was "Helter Skelter" which is still one of my favorites. My others are "The Strange Beside Me" and "In Cold Blood". I love all genres except for scifi and go through true crime phases, where it's all I read for months. Just wanted to say hi:-)

Hi Karen. Nice to meet you. Those books are certainly some of the classic TC's. I hope you meet lots of new authors here.

Thanks Koreen. I hope to hear about other good authors too. I've read a lot of true crime and some of it is forgettable, you know the ones that are rushed to print so fast...

Hello Judy welcome to the group.

I read Helter Skelter so long ago I just can't tell you if I love, hate or liked it. I have also read other books about the same subject and watched many stories about the subject soooooo that being said I can't tell if what I know about the subject came the book or not. I am going to reread it, someday. I have one longgggggg list of books to read.
Crime books I have read. I have read all of Gregg Olsen true crime books. All good. I use tags so if you go click to my shelf and click on True crime you will see the other TC books I have read. I like older cases.

I got started with "Helter Skelter," too. It was a great introduction into the true crime genre. Just recently, I finished "The Stranger Beside Me" and thought it was wonderful. I haven't read "In Cold Blood," but oh, how I want to. Definitely high up on my TBR list.

      Hello and Welcome Rotten.
I read Helter Skelter a long time ago so I am going to reread it.

I have a bad habit of adding and adding books and then when I try to decide on what to read next I can't. I have been trying to find a system. *sigh*

Caitlin Rother's book about Kristin Rossum "Poisoned Love" was a good one. I'm curious to know how a TC involving Patricia Cornwell gets treated.

      Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I finished Twisted Triangle last night. It was OK, but it was easy to read. It think the author treated Patricia Cornwell well, even though the title was a little misleading. There wasn't really much of a "triangle" because Cornwell and the victim were only together a few times before they broke it off.

Hi, I just found this group. I am currently reading Murder in the Adirondacks, it occurred in the early 1900's. It has been a very interesting read. I also have read a lot of Ann Rule, I think my first true crime was by Peter Maas.

I have a Ann Rule on my reading now list called ...And Never Let Her Go.
Looks like it is going to be a good one.
Right now I am reading Up Till NOW by William Shatner. Not a true crime book but a FUNNY laugh out load book.

Hi I forgot I posted here. I finished Murder in the Adirondacks and added it to the group shelf. It is about the Craig Gillette, Grace Brown case that was the inspiration for An American Tragedy by T. Dreiser(I think). The author is a newsman and the book is very well researched and well written(I felt). He gives the history of the victim and murderer, details what is known of the crime and trial and execution, detailed but not too detailed, the second part of the book goes into how the crime became a subject of folklore, folk songs, movies, novels etc. All very interesting.

Hi. I only recently got hooked on TC. I also have phases where it's all I read. I have a much larger want to read list of TC than books I have read. I'm slowly fixing that. I have a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. I'm trying to get my stuff together for a Masters in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

I have always had the minds set that looked for ways around security. I can all too easily understand the hows and whys. This is not to say I condone what they do. It had 'helped' a bit having a very ADHD daughter who also has a bit of Oppositional Defiant Disorder and PTSD so bad it was mistaken for a mild form of Autism (Asbergers).
