This is a great list but I think there is a book missing. Unless you are only interested in fiction. I think that "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin needs to be added to this list. This book is a must read!

I think it made the favorite book list, to make the favorite author list the author had to have more than one book on the list.

This is how JK Rowlings voting went:

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 1
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows 7
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince 1
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 1
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2
The Tales of Beedle the Bard 2

(I don't know the books well enough to know which one is missing)

I can understand that, HP was an annoying teenager and there were moments I wanted to slap him and tell him to shut up for his own good. But then again, that's where JK Rowling did a good job on portraying a teenage boy. ~ LOL~

Love the list! I'm so happy to see Bill Bryson here, but I'm shocked Meyer actually got the TOP spot...or any spot. Or a mention. Good grief.

Anyway, can't wait to vote next time around!

Yeah well ... I'm hoping she's a little less pervasive on the 2009 list. They were good fun books, but she's not a great writer.

I agree with you. The best writing I saw from her was in the manuscript she posted for Midnight Sun and that was an unedited version and still needed a little fine tuning. I also thought the last book was a bit anti-climactic and disappointing. It wasn't the best way to end the series, IMO.

We read The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver for ADvanced English this year. It was an interesting story to say the very least. And there were many heated discussions about the characters themselves in our class.

I'm added like ten books from this list onto my "I Plan To Read." :)
