Seekers

This is a group for those who seek to know the truth about how to live their lives. To join together in the quest for wisdom and the "meaning of life". We will read books that will open our eyes to new ideas, and this group will be a safe place for all to share their thoughts, no matter how outlandish or unconventional they may be. I think it's sad that this once active group that had interesting discussions had turned into an ad for various author's books.

I just found the group today - and the name Seekers was very appealing - but your's is the first post I've read that isn't selling something!

    Marilyn,

If you go way back to our first posts, you will find some interesting, meaningful discussions. There was a time when this group was worthwhile.

It seems that the progression of many Shelfari groups has gone from a distinct purpose to a place for advertising one's books. This one fits that pattern. I keep in my list of groups knowing that I can go back to old posts to reread when the mood hits me.

Some groups are private--by invite only from the creator or another member of the group. Belonging to them stays meaningful since promoters can invade them.

Seriously, go back far enough and you will get some wonderful discussions. Plus, you could add to them which might reignite them.

    I'm back. ;-)

I just perused discussion pages. It appears that the meaty ones begin on page 9.

Also, by perusing it reminded of another development on this site. We first were a group of like minded people--seekers who really did not know and were willing to share our thoughts openly without fear of criticism but with the knowledge that others would share their thoughts and perhaps we would all be enlightened. Then, some proselytizers joined and began proselytizer. Proselytizers were followed by book advertisers. Sad............

    I'm back again!

Marilyn, you might want to peruse the list of members for this group. They are listed by date of membership. You could find members who were in the beginning of the group and persue their shelves. Some may even have tags like "spirituality" that will guide you to some interesting reading. Of course this is not the same as discussing, but it's a start.

That's great to learn about you, Jim R. Perhaps, you or Marilyn can start a meaningful discussion that will revive this group.
