    Need New Authors to read!

    Save Changes Cancel
I love reading series, to see the characters keep coming back, and I'm running out of good vampire series. I know the obvious ones - Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K. Hamilton, Lynsay Sands, Katie MacAlister, JR Ward, Mary Janice Davidson.. but can anyone suggest any others? Even if it's not a series, some new authors would be great. Especially lesser known ones. Thanks all!

Have you read the Charlaine Harris books? How about Maggie Shane, Marjorie Liu, Stephenie Meyer, Jim Butcher, LA Banks, Michelle Bardsley, Christine Feehan, Lori Handelhand, and Carrie Vaughn.

I've tried most of those. Charlaine Harris just doesn't work for me, same for LA Banks,Lori Handelhand, Marjorie Liu and Maggie Shayne. Jim Butcher is fairly good, as is Stephanie Meyer. And thanks for all the suggestions, both of you. I'll see if I can find the others you mentioned next time I visit the local library and/or bookstore.

I recently read The Society of S by Susan Hubbard. It was pretty good, similar to Stephenie Meyer. It's the first book and i don't know how many there will be. Another one that's not well known is Amy Lane.
Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, JR Ward, Jeaniene Frost haven't been mentioned.

You might want to try M ichele Bardsley Vamp series. Don't talk back to your vampire, I'm the Vampire that's why and Because your vampire said so. I've read all three and found them to be very decent reads. More on the lighter side as compaired to a Laurel K. or Lynsay Sands.

I just finished the 3rd book in Karen Chance's series, and I have to say, they are some pretty decent books. Have quite a few twists and turns. I also enjoy Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series.

A Light in the Heart of Darkness: The Guardian Heart Crystal Series

    About the Book
To Kyoko, mythical creatures are something you rent and watch on a Saturday night with your friends. When a mysterious stalker turns the shadows around her into dark corners with sharp deadly edges, will she be able to hide from the past? Darkness has fallen upon the world again and the guardians have been awaiting the resurrection. Though they are thought to be creatures of myth, in this reality they are far more real than people think. Only when the moon is high will these creatures, these guardians, battle the evil that seeks to overtake the world and the girl who holds ultimate power… the light in the heart of darkness.

    Free Preview:
    Chapter 20 “Wicked”

The night air shook as they collided, making the sound echo through the area. Kyoko glanced back just in time to see Tasuki and Yohji circle each other before moving with blinding speed, hands and claws extended for the others throat… feet leaving the ground at the same time.

They spiraled into the air, their legs out behind them looking momentarily like marionettes on strings and Kyoko wondered if they were indeed being manipulated to some degree.

The site of them with their hands around each other’s throats in mortal combat was nothing compared to what was going on above them. Kyoko’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped open in awed terror. More vampires were arriving of all shapes and sizes. It looked as if the nightwalkers where running across the top of the trees only to drop to the ground soundlessly all around them.

Adding to her terror was a wave of spiders that joined them, crawling over the ground, rocks and other vampires before finally converging under the discarded white gown that had been left moments before. The garment seemed to pulse and finally filled out as the female reformed from the tiny arachnids.

Kyoko could feel evil all around her but this evil was so real… it was suffocating. It was almost as if the evil in the air before was only a preview of things to come.

Her head whipped from side to side searching for the source. Her gaze went to the ground and landed on the feet of someone standing very close to her. Her eyes slowly traveled up a body only a god would be jealous of. It was perfect in every way… long legs and thighs that met a tapered waist. Pale skin that looked almost white against the black button up shirt that lay against it.

Kyoko found herself wondering if the rest of his skin was that pale and blushed furiously. She was in mortal danger and couldn’t take the time to think about such things. However, she couldn’t help but wonder what…all thought stopped when she saw his face and gasped. If Satan existed this is what he would have looked like… after all, wasn’t he the most beautiful one of all?

An angel’s face that appeared to be carved from marble, showing no emotion except the slightest bit of amusement surrounded by long black hair that fluttered in the still building breeze blowing around them. He was evil, he was sadistic and he was beautiful…a very dangerous combination.

You could try Lara Adrian's Breed Series.
And if I may be so bold to suggest my own Sisters of Emsharra series (its about a race of succubus living in a parallel universe to earth and the hybrid/psychically gifted males with whom they mate.) You can check it out at www.sirenpublishing.com, Amazon or B&N.com

Good Luck on your search ;)

Totally recommend Kresley Cole's paranormal series starting with A Hunger Like No Other.

Also, there is a vampire trilogy (Bound in Darkness) by Lucy Blue starting with My Demon's Kiss that I really enjoyed.

Not really in the "romance" catagory but still with romance in it are the Weather Warden books by Rachel Caine that have been excellent. She also has a YA vampire series that's very good that has romance (but not quite as steamy, being ya). The first book is Glass Houses.

I didn't see anyone recommend one of my favorite series - the Lacey Garnet series by Tate Hallaway. Lacey is a powerful witch with an even more powerful goddess living inside of her. Lacey meets and falls in love with Sebastian, a very unusual vampire. What I like about the series is that it deals with many different aspects of magic - not just vapirism (is that a word?). And the setting is present day Madison, Wisconsin - so the magic seems like just part of everyday life for Garnet and her friends.

    - Tall, Dark & Dead
    - Dead Sexy

Elizabeth Donald has a great vampire series, Nocturnal Urges.
The books all set in a Memphis where the vampires form an underclass, doing work humans won't, including sex work.

Nocturnal Urges takes place in and around the vampire nightclub/brothel of the same name, when a prominent anti-vamp activist is killed on their doorstep.

A More Perfect Union catches Samantha in a struggle between a father and son political team as a vampiric gang war shapes up.

Abaddon begins when someone is targeting human/vampire couples.

Try Lora Leigh and Rachel Vincent. They both have a werecat series. Lora Leigh's is called the Breed Series and Rachel Vincent is a new author and has 2 books out about a Pride of werecats as well. Stray is the first one and Rogue is the 2nd. I have read them both and found them extremely good.

    I think you should try A Whisper of Eternity by Amanda Ashley and Crimson City by LIz Maverick. You should also try the Raintree triology, it's not about vampires but I think you should it. They are;
    RAINTREE: INFERNO by Linda Howard
RAINTREE: HAUNTED by Linda Winstead Jones
    RAINTREE: SANCTUARY by Beverly Barton
