    Gore

What do you guys think about SK gore? I find it really well thought out and quite freaky to say the least. Hostel and Saw have nothing on some of the gore portrayed in these books.

I get so caught up in his stories and the characters he creates that I don't think about the gore too much.

It is really well thought out, and quite vivid... thinking of i think The Running Man, where his intestines are spilling out through his fingers and he's tripping on them and stuff... omg. haha. I read the book like 5 years ago and i still remember that part quite well.

Stephen King gore is as well written as anything else SK. It fits with the story being told, it's very descriptive; imaginatively so for the most part. His style makes it so that when you come across something nasty you sort of expect it. It's vivid but not out of place. And it isn't added just for the heck of it either.

I read Misery at a fairly young age (12 or 13-ish), and the bit with her cutting off his foot... ewww. Every time I re-read it, I cringe a little, and pull my feet up under me. Very fitting with the story, though. I don't think he's ever gone over the top with the gore.

OMG i know what you mean... in Gerald's Game with the degloving, i always hold the book far away and skim over that part with one eye, haha. And then my wrists itch. That's probably the most vivid gore of his to me. I'm shuddering now just thinking about it! haha.

I'm reading Needful things and I read the part with the 2 women slashing eachother apart, it was so vivid I had to stop and catch my breath.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about that. I love that story, and those two women's storylines particularly. I agree that was some pretty vivid stuff.

Hey! I'm not that far into it yet! There has been no slashing one another at all... just some yelling and paranoia but no slashing!

I finished Needful Things... you're right. That part was quite graphic but it fit so nicely into the story. That was when things started to get really funky too.

I felt bad for little Brian though. And his brother too.

I think King does gore the way he does everything else...in his own way. I don't think he ever goes too far. Pet Cemetary was a little tough for me because of the baby getting hit by the truck. Other than that it usually goes well with the story. I first read Gerald's Game when I was 12 and had nightmares for months. That one was a bit graphic at the time.

The bad death of Edwourd DeLecroix. I don't think we need to go much further than that.

    But it fits, doesn't it?
