    AudioBooks Good or Bad????

This topic always baffles me. I'd like to know what you think?
Personally, I greatly enjoy audiobooks. They are great for relaxing when too tired to read but just can't quite fall asleep just yet. They are also great while cleaning, transfer a few chapters into my mp3 player and voila I'm all set to clean. Cleaning is boring, might as well listen to something entertaining from which you can learn something. Yes, I believe one can learn from audiobooks just as much as regular paper books. You just don't learn the same thing. First of all, you get to hear proper English for a change (or whatever language it is in). It's important to be able to hear proper English to be able to speak properly! Audiobooks are also great for training the subconscious to visualize, specially when busying yourself with something else like cleaning. Nonetheless, I don't think they should replace real books either cause there's an intimacy that builds from reading a book, breaking the spine, folding the corners... that you don't have with audiobooks. A book is precious after all!

I've never held audio books on the same level as paper books.

Mentally I've always connected listening to an audio book with watching a movie adaptation of a book. Just because you listen to it doesn't mean you've actually read it.

When you read you're forced to use your brain more, picturing not only scenes, but peoples voices and the tones and inflections they might use when saying something.

I tried to listen to Dracula on audio book once, and hated the whole experience, and have not ever cared to try another one.

If I ever do buy one it will be because of who is reading it. Stephen King voiced his own story "LT's Theory of Pets" and I woudln't mind hearing that one just because I love King.
