What is your favorite genre of books? Why do those books appeal to you?

Personally, I enjoy fantasy as a genre because it allows my imagination to soar away from our mundane reality. The realm of magic and myth poses various paradigms in my mind that I simply love to sit down and think about. Furthermore, fantasies are great to relieve stress from our daily lives because they are entertaining and mostly different from our daily routine.

Why do you read what you read?

I'm a horror junkie myself. Not only a horror junkie, but a BAD horror junkie.

I can't put my finger on exactly why I like them. Few of them really scare me, so its not for the scare.

All of my reading is for pure enjoyment. I've never really gone for books that are supposed to have a "deeper meaning," and the few I have read that were probably supposed to symbolize something or other I just read because I enjoyed them.

Maybe thats why I do enjoy horror so much. The only "meaning" to them is KILL THE MONSTER!

Fantasy is easily #1 for me, they're an escape from the day-to-day routine, and I also find it fascinating how diverse it can be. I think that's one of the reasons Mercedes Lackey is one of my favorite authors, for her ability to take a tired old fairy tale and reinvent it as a whole new story. She's the only author I've read to do something like that, and it's so impressive to me!

Urban Fantasy. I wouldn't really say it's my favorite genre, I like reading almost anything printed but it's mostly what Ive been reading for about two years now.
