Charles de Lint has some really good fantasy stories about the other side and how it affects this side (Muse and Reverie, Dreams Underfoot, Forest of the Heart).
Neal Gaiman also has some well known works out there as well (American Gods, Ansazi Boys, Neverwhere).
Roger Zelazny is a great SF writer well known for his Amber series (Nine Princes In Amber is the first one). But he also has many great collections of short stories.
Cherie Priest is a good representation of steampunk with her Boneshaker series.
CJ Cherryh is a great SF writer and a fantasy writer as well (although I haven't read any of her fantasy stuff yet). The best series, I think, is the Chanur series (book 1 being The Pride of Chanur).
Elizabeth Bear has a really cool genre-bending series where she mixes SF and fantasy. They are, Dust, Chill, Grail in that order.
N. K. Jemisin also has a great series, fantasy, titled, The One Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, The Broken Kingdoms, and The Kingdom of Gods. Good stuff, that.
