Steven King steals a Murakami place name...

The name of the hotel in his short story "1408", now a movie, is The Dolphin Hotel.

I haven't read any Stephen King myself (just as a disclaimer), but I noticed that name right away...

Yes, I noticed that as well. I've read that particular story, and it doesn't mention The Dolphin Hotel though. It could be the producers who had the idea to use that name.

i read somewhere that Stephen King was giving his hats off at Murakami when he used the name Dolphin Hotel. Have to check this out though. I did read it i think in Murakami's official site or something.

actually, i have just finished dance3x where The Dolphin Hotel was featured. I guess there's really nothing wrong with using that name, as long as there's vaild permission... right? wonder what Murakami himself thought about that. I don't really think he'd mind...
