Blogging your homeschool/unschool experience, do you?

For those of you that are homeschooling/unschooling, do you blog your homeschool/unschool experience? Has blogging impacted your homeschool/unschool experience? If so, how has it impacted your homeschool/unschool experience?

I preface by saying that I believe that all parents are "homeschoolers", even if they may not identify as such.

My son attends school now...Technically, we will be "homeschooling/unschooling" this fall, but I certainly am exploring this idea of blogging about this experience, as I think it is a very neat way to document the journey.

I'm very new to the whole "internet community" thing. I don't think I would blog about my homeschool, just because I'm unfamiliar with it. Not sure what the value would be? I have a hard enough time just keeping my sons on track and my records up to date, but it might be a good way to record daily progress.

It's a great idea, but I have to really prioritize my time, and I'm afraid that would fall below my personal loves of reading and art.

I'm still contemplating this idea of blogging and I am searching for places to blog that are user-friendly and that I can password-protect.

LOL....I don't think I would forget because I enjoy journaling.

Most likely I will be blogging about my homeschool experience and I may also have my son contribute to the blog as well.

http://taz.bulletproofsoul.info is where I blog some of it.
It has really enriched my experience and expanded my own views, since I get a variety of people commenting back on issues and lessons I address there.

I used to just post schooling stuff on our family blog but this year we have broken away from charters for my oldest (starting 9th grade) and with that has come all the currriculum choices and I want to have records of what he's doing and such so I started a new blog just for schooling stuff and then still put the other every day stuff on my main blog. My older 3 boys all have their own blogs and I'm going to be on them to make entries more regularly and would like them to include their thoughts on what they are currently learning as well as the video games they play. LOL

We have blogs on our site, but don't really use them like journals. Its just one way of organizing things, and learning about writing/uploading and related skills.
We tend to put up more pictures, stories and animations than proper 'blog' entries.
Livejournal, blogger (google) and wordpress are the biggest free blogging sites, if you don't want to set up a site yourself.

I thought about it a while ago..then I got sidetracked - ended up starting another blog actually. When I first read this I thought no way do I want my failures recorded! But now that I think about it it's a great way to share resources...so ya got me thinking again....time..time..time...

Oh we do. I blog several times a week. It isn't 'only' about homeschooling/unschooling, but definitely includes that as it is a part of our daily life, obviously. It helps me wrap my head around what we are doing, seasons, projects, and how we integrate daily life into life learning. I also like the comments aspect - connect with others around the country who also homeschool. Very community feel. I really enjoy the process.

While we're going on our fourth year of "official" homeschooling, we've only just begun to blog about our adventure. We're really doing it more for the kids than we are for family and friends to see... but I suppose it's a little of both.

We're using it as one more tool to encourage fun/learning.

Feel free to take a peak and leave a comment. :)

Hi, I will use this as my introduction as well, as it is the first time I post to this group. I am Kristen in Portland, OR. I have a blog. It originated as a way for me to sort out my own experience from the inside out, and I realize now in retrospect is what some call deschooling. It helps me connect with my inside when I need it, and with the world outside when I (or the world) needs it. Playing with a butterfly in the woods, however, is always preferable to blogging about playing with a butterfly in the woods.

    Stop in and visit sometime:

Hello! My son is not old enough to homeschool yet, though we do plan to homeschool when the time comes. I began a blog when my son was 4 weeks old. He is now almost 20 months and I am still going strong. I post nearly every night. It began as a way to keep his grandparents up to date and turned into a time when I reflect upon the day and what is going on in our life. Feel free to drop by - http://jjschauble.blogspot.com
