    Star Trek Online game

Just want to get a count, how many of you out there plan to play Star Trek Online. Or, for that matter...how many of you have heard of it?

I just read an article on it in a games magazine at the magazine stand. Looks really cool, they have a cool starship creator which they say is worth the price of admission alone. Although I think these games are great, (I'm a world of warcraft veteran/ have hung up my war ax a year ago) I don't know if I could get into another of these games. They really just take too much time to appreciate. Eve has seemed a pretty cool space exploration game as well, supposedly getting better as they get the bugs out and it looks awesome. I do love Star Trek however so I guess I'll just have to wait to hear feedback.

Check out startrekonline.com to get updates, they're progressing rather well, I think. Within the next few years it should be up and running. And ya, Cryptic is known for their customization features. Characters and ships are going to customizable up to a certain extent.

I've looked at the website but I'm wary of paying a subscription for a game though I'd love to play.

I hadn't heard of this, but I am interested. I play World of Warcraft and while it is a black hole as far as time goes, I have a lot of fun with it. I'd rather invest time in a star trek game though!

I agree, though I've never played WoW, I have experienced that "black hole" experience with other mmos. But if your gonna get sucked in, shouldn't it be on the bridge of a Star Trek cruiser? ;)

Totally agree! I read that they're not even in beta yet and I think games usually sit there being tested for a year. So like you said earlier Cody, it sounds like it may be awhile before it's released. I'm looking forward to it though. At first I was disappointed that we'll be piloting different ships and can't be on the same one, but when I thought about it, I couldn't think of a way the game would work if they did allow people on the same ships. I also hope they add interiors to the ships in an early patch.

Well, they have started awarding beta keys, so I see that as a step in the right direction. Still awhile to go yet, but I'm willing to wait. I think it would work to put players on the bridge of a ship, it would be incredibly boring. The captain and maybe chief security officer would be the best. But other than that, well, they wouldnt sell that many games. Ship interiors would be nice, especially if they were customizable. Like, you could change the design/color of the walls and rearrange the bridge consoles and stuff. Maybe you could customize your private quarters, and your ready room, if you have one.

I'd like to apply to be a beta-player. :) Sounds like fun. It would be cool if at some point our captain can lounge in his ready room or have a drink in ten-forward. haha.
