I read resistance, and was chilled to the bone. Most creepy borg yet. Thought their whole slicing and dicing routine changed things up a bit. The older borg now don't seem as dangerous as the new "Re-imagined" ones.
I know. Resistance was very creepy, It's as if there much angrier now, darker meaner. The older Borg look like pushovers in comparison.
Yeah, too bad they weren't meaner on the movies and tv shows. I always thought they were a little over used (especially in the last few seasons of Voyager). Their threat level virtually disappeared with the introduction of Species 8472 (who are themselves now poised to be the big, bad threat in the post-series Trek universe). Now, no spoilers here but do any of the books give a reason for the change in the Borg modus operandi? Or do they just go collectively insane? (pun intended)
I agree with you about Voyager, they became the villian of the week and lost their effectiveness. As for the books, with no spoliers, the Destiny trilogy comes closest to answering your question in my opinion.
Thanks--I thought the Destiny books would tie all of it together. But the other TNG/Voyager novels (ie, Before Dishonor, Resistance, etc) are all leading up to Destiny right? Yeah, I'm a little behind on my Trek TBR (I'm only now reading the second book in the Mission Gamma series for DS9).
Yeah they all lead up to Destiny. It's ok, your just taking your time to savor each book that's all.
I like the new Borg. It makes sense that they have evolved like everyone else. Before Dishonor was great but I don't understand if Janeway is dead or has become a Q.
The new Borg are really well done. I've been neglectful of my current ST readings lately but I've read Destiny and those books and found them fantastic.
Keep reading. The Borg saga gets great in the most recent books. Just keep reading in the order the books have been released, and enjoy the ride, trek readers!
