    New NBC Series Merlin

NBC will be airing a new 13 part series titled Merlin starting June 21 at 8 pm.

Set in Camelot, this 13 part drama series updates the story of Merlin, the infamous sorcerer of Arthurian legend. Stars Colin Morgan, Bradley James, and Anthony Head.

Thought you all might be interested as I am in this. I know I will be watching.

Well I have seen the first four hours. Other than the period it is set in, and the character names, very little holds to the stories that I know of Arthur. It is Ok fantasy adventure entertainment I suppose, but it is not very enlightening, and I fear to many young people (for who this my be their first taste of Arthur) may be somewhat mislead. I will continue to watch, simply because Sunday nite TV is so poor.

I agree with you and in fact I think it is kind of cheesy. I find myself irritated that they have gotten everything so wrong. I am still watching but not sure for how long.
It makes you wonder who they hire for their research

I watched for the first time this past sunday and was very sad that they didn't work harder to give us a good Camelot series. I wont be watching again :( and i think maybe they should have put it on the sci-fi channel instead.

I understand your feelings. I just think the title should have been something else, as to this point I have not seen anything that the creators of the series can honestly say comes from the stories of Arthur, Merlin, or Camelot.

We've had this series in Australia since the end of April, so I can tell you that you might want to make other plans for your Sunday nights, because the content isn't going to get any better. What a disappointment! It is just too far removed from "my" camelot to appeal to me and I can't understand why it is necessary to take a well-loved story like this and change everything except the names.

And - oh joy - they promised us a second series for next year...

That might be time for viewers to give them some feedback. I do know that they had about 5.3 million viewers so that is probably why they went for a second season.

Sabina, thanks for the tip. Like you I was really disappointed with this. Perhaps I need to read more anyway :)

Erin, do you think that the viewship here will continue at that level? Or, if viewership drops will they just can it?

      Ben
I'm sure that after these last two episodes aired that the viewership dropped. Not sure what that would do as far as next season. I would think they would be looking at the interest but what do I know?
