Next Book?
Started by deborah, Tuesday, April 10 2007. Last post Sunday, April 15 2007.

Hi Gangsters!

Start thinking about our next read and how we should decide. Vote? Or go with the next in line (Aidan)? At this point, I opt for the "next in line" option as we'll be exposed to a greater varity of reading taste. But I'll go with what the gang thinks.

Cheers

Yes lets expand on and away from this genre.......I saw enough of it on the CBC news last night.

I just finished Frisk by Dennis Cooper. THAT was gory and graphic and then started The Taking by Dean Koontz. I have always wanted to read a book by him because I like his name. Looks good in print. It is post apocalyptic so I guess that is a no go. I will respect and even cater to Rhonda's sensitive constitution. I have on my shelf A Heatbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers, Angels and Insects by A. S. Byatt, A Case of Curiosities by Allen Kurzwell and Invisible Monsters by Chuch Palahniuk. Or we could give Cormac McCarthy another try with All the Wild Horses. (I've read it but would like to read it again).
The other books I have started and put them down. It might mean they are not good (or to my liking), or I could of been distracted by something and put them down. Another suggestion is Seeing by Saramago. I think we have probably all read Blindness so a follow up would be good. It is either called Seeing or something similar. Or should I just assign something? I am also curious to read Jennifer Government but it is Sci-Fi and maybe a bit silly for certain members of the group.
Or...someone else can pick. I'm easy. I will check out my Wish List and see what is there.

I think Aidan needs book therapy. His too many choices, too many things he's good at and I feel he needs to redefine, and pick some boundaries and decide.Just pick something for G-d's sake! All sound interesting and thanks for caring to my sensitive knees right now.

Rhonda

P.S. I never finished Blindness because we started a film and must have put it down.

PGirl, Deborah and all,
I was thinking our next book could be The Box Man by Kobo Abe. Any takers?

Yes sounds interesting. Box Man perhaps he meets the box cutter woman? Just for a little romance.

OK , so shall we say the next book is The Box Man. I have seen it in second hand stores. maybe PoetGirl can get it from Roncensvelles. I think it is available at chapters. Let me know if you have touble. By the way, Kobo Abe also wrote Women in the Dunes (which was made into a film).

Gangstas'
I've put the new book up on our list. I found it for $6.00 on amazon...so I'll start when I get it!

PS My new icon is what I've been doing rather than reading....
