I have added this to Books to Read on the group shelf. Diane is joing my book club in Dec, as she is a local author. I have also heard her speak on Native Ameriocan issues in tpt television.
I highly recommend reading:
The author asks the questions, "But what if knowing the truth about the past would change the way we live in the present? What would it mean, for example, if we were held accountable not only for our own actions but also for those of history-for the actions and consequences of our relatives? Why do we need to know about ourselves, our ancestors, our history?"
The book concludes with the first-ever 2002 Dakota Commemorative March, an event that honored the 1,700 Dakota who were removed from the state of MN.
