What is the fascination with Blogging?

Ok, everyone seems to be into blogging these days. Tell me what is the fascination with blogging and why do you blog about books and what inspires you to do so. I have a blog on my myspace, but rarely does it get used and when it does it is just to update friends on something going on, but why random blogs about books, movies, etc. etc. Just trying to get an insight into the new craze of blogging, and how on earth you would think of something intelligent enough to want to share.

my blog mainly consists of book reviews and movie reviews. i decided to do a blog after being lurkers on several of my favorite author's blog sites and saw that other readers wrote reviews. i figured since i read probably 200 books a year, i might as well let others know what's good out there. so about a year ago i posted my first entry and have been hooked ever since. i don't really write personal stuff in my blog unless something major happens. i have a set schedule where i usually do 3 book reviews a week, 1 movie review, and then post stuff from a blog alliance i am part of.

many authors are willing to give review copies of books if you promise to post reviews on your blog. they love the publicity and seeing what you and others think of their book. since i started my blog, i've probably gotten 150 books from authors.
and it's fun as well. i enjoy writing and i'm hoping that this will eventually lead to something bigger.

I don't blog. I only post on the myspace blog thing the books I read. It's too much information for the most, as far as I am concerned.

I tried blogging and it just became too much work. Another thing to do and take up my time and maintain. I still have an LJ blog but I primarily use it to keep up with friends who live far, to see how they're doing.

My blog is just a way to journal my kids' growth, sort of a diary online that my relatives abroad can check into to keep in touch and see what the kids are up to. Sometimes it is a lot of work!

I have a friend, though, who's an excellent writer and her blog is very good. She has great insights into almost any topic and expresses herself well. Hers is the only blog I visit regularly. http://gigigoesgaga.typepad.com
