Might I suggest The Princess Bride? I found it hilarious. It's the same kind of humor as in the movie, but even more funny. It's very tongue-in-cheek and playful.

Anything by Louise Rennison, which is really her Georgia Nicholson series:

Angus, Thons and Full Frontal Snogging
On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God
    Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas
    Dancing In My Nuddy Pants
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel
Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers
    Startled by His Furry Shorts
Love is a Many Trousered Thing

Georgia is vair, vair funny, even though she is British and does not come from Hamburger-a-go-go Land. = D I luuuurve Georgia!

Well, it depends on what you consider appropriate...there are books like Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini that have cussing and some "scenes," but t is HILARIOUS!
And then you have books that are "clean" and have...a younger type of humor. One good book that fits in this category is called The Name of this Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch.

Another funny teen book is An Abundance of Katherines by John Green.

And if you are just interested in a GOOD book that has all the elements (hilarious, cute love story, causes you to be angry sometimes, has action scenes and honestly is one of the best books i have read...mind you it is...808 pages long. And totally WORTH it!) It is called This is all - The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn - Aiden Chambers

Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner. Hilarious. Perfect for a teenager but not for younger kids as it's very bawdy.

I just joined the Group. Is it too late to answer this question? In case someone still wants to know, I checked with someone who would know better than I (a 13-year old book reviewer). Here's her reply:

"Well, it depends on the ages of the teens. I recommend She's So Money by Cherry Cheva if it's an older teen or one that can handle reading about drugs and cheating. It's mainly about a cheating ring that this one girl starts but it never implies that they're right. There's some humor between the MC and the boy who's helping her and I believe there's some sex and drug jokes but I'm 13 and read it without any problem. It's absolutely hilarious.

    As for younger teens...

Try The Wedding Planner's Daughter and it's sequel, The Cupid Chronicles. They're more MG but I enjoyed them.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head since humor isn't my main genre."

I got a response from another source, as follows:

"Hi! The Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison has been known for a ton of laughs. I haven't read it personally, but I know a lot of teens that have enjoyed it.

Hmm. E. Lockhart's books are funny, too -- I read Fly on the Wall a few years ago and couldn't stop laughing.

How Not to be Popular by Jennifer Ziegler, in my opinion, was hilarious AND held an amazing, captivating storyline. I'd definitely recommend that one.

Oh! And She's So Money by Cherry Cheva is a great one too. She writes for Family Guy, as well, so that draws a lot of readers in.

    Hope that helped!"

If it's chicklit you're talking about, then I'd recommend Pretty Things by Manning. But if it's any-young-adultish-reader, then I'd throw in The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Pratchett as well.
