I live in the small state of Rhode Island, home of 32 delegates and we will vote on March 4, 2008.
I have been a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton long before she decided to run for President. Wouldn't it be great to have Bill Clinton back on Pennsylvania Avenue, even if only to offer advice / support to the President? I am grateful and appreciative of Mr. Obama and his passion; it is something that we are all agog over and something that we have desperately awaited. At the same time, I continue to be concerned about these issues: 1) I am struggling with the notion that he continues to vocalize that he did not vote for the war in Iraq, when in fact, he couldn't because he was not a member of the Senate at the time of the vote. Is that misleading? Have any of you read the doctrine of his church? Is it racist? If we replaced the word "black" with the word "white?" Mr. Obama has stated that we should stay in Iraq in order to intimidate Iran and I don't have a clear picture of his foreign policy knowledge or his agenda. What are his views on Lebanon? Lastly, I am conflicted by his sermonizing speeches that make him sound like a southern minister. Though I am registered Green, I will obviously, support Barack Obama if he is selected for the ticket.
I feel honored to be living during an era where our biggest competition is between an African American male and a woman running for presidency. These truly are prodigious times!
I would love to hear from anyone facing this same struggle with the Democratic nomination or input or rebuttal to my concerns.
All good wishes,
Amy
