Books by African Authors or on Africa

There is a growing interest in the west to read stories about Africa, as told by indigenous authors or authors who understand Africa's rich historic past as well as its current challenges.
This is a group to promote books by African Authors as well as books on Africa.

    Black British Literature

Have you ever come across the literary movement called Black British Literature? I'd love to read more about black authors who created their work in the 1960s Britain. They had to suffer to survive in white dominent culture. I love Buchi Emecheta's Second Class Citizen and her Adah stories, but can anyone also recommend any other African writer who depicted the same theme?

I think you might really like Leila Aboulela's short story "The Museum." Also, Dambudzo Marechera's stories in his story collection The House of Hunger
