    powers of a vampire....

okay folks we all love vampires... sometimes even wished we had the vampire powers..
but different books portray vamoires differently..

what.. in your opinion are the powers of a vampire....
    he can fly?
    not die by bullets?
    etc etc..
    et al..
    so on..
    and so forth...
    also..
    what brings him down....
    what kills hi totally..
    what wounds him..
    and of course..
does he become vampire on moonlit nights or he's a vampire 24/7...???

    answers please dearies..... rowr....

We had this discussion in my group...the traditional Vampire or the new Vampires, Myself I like the traditional Vampire who is unable to die by bullets, a good stake works, doesn't like silver etc. But there are some of the traits of the new vamps that I like, being able to go outside with some SPF for short periods of time...I am torn...but I think I like the traditional best.

I think: They can fly, not die from bullets, unless it is a silver bullet, stakes in the heart kills them, vampires are vampires 24/7.

The whole Silver bullet thing is for Werewolfs not Vampiers. stake through their heart and a Vampire is a vampire not only at twilight or something stupid like that. No a vampire is a vampire 24/7. I have a question, what doesn't die if you shove a stake through it's heart?

basically i think vamps can fly, shapeshift, cant die unless their head is off and stuff. i thk they have majick and it grows stronger the longer they live. and they are vamps 24/7, they can feel and hurt but they can heal hence why dey live for centuries.

All which u mentioned: fly without transforming (transf to bat or wolf is quite cliche), not die by Anything except fire and sun (coz they're of the night), strongly telepathic telekinetic, agile, move like ghosts, have conscience like Louis and Lestat, vampire by occupation.

    Yup

I have to agree with the classical vamps.
No sun, die by decap or stake. Mind powers absolutely. Not so sure about the flying in human form, levitate YES, Fly...not so much.
I have a funky question. If they transform into a bat...why is the bat so small? What happened to equal mass distribution? Is it one bat or many bats? I know, Faith doesnt have much to do this afternoon so her brain is going into overdrive.

i dont really think any one knows... maybe it's because bats are normally small anyways.... i'm guessing equal mass distribution just went out the window... (don't worry my brain is on overdrive as well.....

a real vampire to me is that he can fly, super speed, cannot die from a bullet, no silver, live on and on less hence their heads be off...

I think they can fly and shapeshift (not traditional bat but owl or wolf). Totally kill be decapitation and burning. Silver bullets wound but not kill. Telephathic, super speed, powers like Feehan's carpathians where they can make things appear (clothes, etc.). Hurt by sun - I like the traditional way of not being able to come out in sunlight - vampires are truly creatures of the night!

I have a mixed view of vampires. They can't go out into the sunlight; they are vampires 24/7; they have to be decapitated (and stakes are also effective); and I don't know what to say about the religious items thing. When I write about vampires (and I write about them often) it could be one of three methods. 1) The religious item will not work unless backed up by true faith, 2) the religious item will not work unless it is from the vampire's original religion, or 3) religious items will not work at all.

I think the whole garlic thing is stupid. What about all those Italian vampires? ;D And a message to Stephenie Meyer - VAMPIRES DO NOT SPARKLE.

lol your hilarious. yea i was not to cool with the sparkling vamps either but to each their own.

I agree with you on the religious items thing expect the second one.
I dnt believe they can fly...run super fast, leap great feets, swim like crazy but no flying
Silver only hurts/takes longer to heal
I think they can go out in daylight but not direct sun for short periods of time but only if their like over 500 years old or something like that
stake and head lopped off kills completely and direct sunlight
      of course their vamp 24/7
powers of seduction and mind definitely
and im ify on the shapeshifting...

what's ya'll opinion of vampires having kids?

On the subject of vampire having children - shall we go with LKH's theory, and vampires can still hold the ability to procreate within a year of their transformation, because after that everything is pretty much dead??

I've always liked the idea of a vampire being able to shift into a wolf *bats for me are just very cliche....not that a wolf isn't*

Yea i agree with LKH's view on it on the whole believeable level but i almost like the whole males vamps maybe be able to sire kids but only with a human female cause i dnt believe female vamps can produce children.

I like it when vampires can shift into any animal.
What brings him/her down is not feeding or loss of blood.
    Beheading is what kills them.
I like the newer stories where vampires can tolerate the sun somewhat.
Having babies is pretty cool also.
    Vampire 24/7
You're right, books do portray vampires differently.Don't you just love it.

... I also like the heartbeat aspect and warm blood.Be hard to snuggle with someone coldblooded with no heartbeat.
Teleporting is a good power to have, and seeing in the dark.Mind control is cool also.
