    Coming of age fiction?

    Can anyone recommend some good "coming of age" gay and lesbian fiction? Bonus points for young adult lit. Thanks muchly!

    Hi!...we've been talking a lot about this in the YA Books that Adults Should Read group in the discussion posts; folks have come up with pretty good lists. I'll add another new one that I've just read--"Absolute Brightness" by James Lecesne...one of the best to come out, so to speak, in a while, I think.

    For coming of age lesbian fiction I'd definitely recommend "Annie on My Mind" and "Keeping You a Secret"....most definitely. Both considered YA.

    Julie,
    Join us at YA Adults Should Read. My favorite YA author is Jacqueline Woodson. She often has lesbian/gay characters in her work. Two titles I recommend are _The House You Pass On The Way and _From The Notebooks of Melanin Sun_. Two good titles for transgendered would be _Parrotfish_ and _Luna_.
