My kids really liked a book called Walk the Worlds Rim,The Kings Fifth tells the same story but I think may somewhat more challenging (The story of Esteban and his travels across America meeting Native Americans) They also liked Sign of the Beaver, and Moccasin Trail. Om-kas-toe is a member of the Blackfeet Indian tribe in the early 1700's and was good. Paddle to the Sea might be a little young but enjoyable, with beautiful pictures. Lastly, my kids read Naya Nuke is about a childhood friend of Sacajawea. Oh and another book which tells about the Cheyenne tribe is Vostaas: White Buffalo's Story of Plains Indian life. We had a lot of fun reading these books and I hope that you enjoy them too! I homeschool, so the kids read all these books over a semester. For fun there's the Indian in the Cupboard. It isn't as serious as the other books.
Take care.
