Books that take place in London

I am very excited to be taking my son on a trip to England for his 13th birthday. Since I will be homeschooling him next year (6th grade). Prior to our trip he will be studying English history and geography. I thought it would be a good idea to have his reading include books that take place in London so that he can recognize them when we arrive, or have a historical background. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you so much

I've never actually been to London before, and most book's I've read have traces (okay more than traces) of fiction and fantasy to them but here are one's I know of that are set in London. I guess it just takes some filtering to decide which areas are fact and which are fiction.

    Jonathan Stroud's The Bartimaeus Trilogy
    Harry Potter, :]
Frank Beddor's Looking Glass Wars are set in Victorian England

It's not much, my memory eludes me but I hope this somewhat helps.

Lucky you to be going to London. It's on my top ten list of places to visit.
I can understand your attraction to young adult and children's literature. I teach sixth grade english/literature in a middle school in Virginia.
The students I am teaching this year are avid readers. I feel blessed. However, it is soon to end and I pray the same is true of next year.
In any event, you asked for suggestions and here are a few
    l. London Calling by Edward Bloor (also wrote Tangerine)
    2. The Redwall series by Brian Jacques
    3. Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
    4. His Dark Material Trilogy: The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amberspyglass by Phillip Pullman
    5. Perloo the Bold by Avi (I think )
    6. The Once and Future King by T.B. White
Several take place in England, not necessarily London

Well, I hope this helps. If you haven't left yet, enjoy your trip. Wish your son a happy birthday!

The London Eye Mystery--great new book. Boy, living in London, takes a ferris wheel ride with his siter and cousin. He must ride in a separate "car" behind the girls. He goes up, but when they come down, he's gone. Very cool book.

Stoneheart by Charlie Fletcher is an exciting fantasy that takes place in London. The main character, George, is 12 or 13 so your son would identify with him.

Thank you all so much! I'm sure there are a few Billy will love. I, personally, am reveling in my new Kindle. I absolutely love it. I find myself reading more than ever.
