Looks like I got hooked on Sayers. I love Lord Peter Wimsey and I especially enjoyed Whose Body. But my favorite Wimseys are the ones where he finally meets up with Harriet Vane, saves her from hanging Strong Poison, and woos her for six years which end at the end of Gaudy Night. So, if there is anyone in our group who would like to discuss these books and the ones which were written by Sayers and Jill Patton Walsh, I would love to chat about them.

I realize it was supposed to be one author each week, but I got the first Patterson for $3.99 from BookBub and thought this was a good time to read it.

So good, they made a movie, I believe!

      Movie Info:
Matthew McConaughey stars in this legal thriller as a low-rent defense attorney named Mickey Haller. Most of the time, Mickey barely keeps his head above water, representing low-life clients and working out of the back of his car. He thinks he's landed the case of a lifetime when he's hired to defend a rich playboy (Ryan Phillippe) who stands accused of rape and attempted murder, and eagerly accepts his new client and the massive payoff that's sure to come with him. But Mickey soon discovers that he's become ensnared in a twisted plot where no fee in the world is high enough to pay for the deadly workload, and his only hope of survival may just lay in his own skills as a long-practiced double-crosser. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Movie is no where as good as the book. I was very disappointed in it. Loved the book, I think I gave it 5 stars a couple of years ago. Watched the first 10 minutes of the movie and sent it back to Netflix unfinished.

Pretty impressive, Lauren. I am able to come up with authors of books that I have in my possession and most, if not all, are re-reads. But, to me, that's not a problem. I have very bad memory problems, so it's like reading new not a re-read.

The Double Eagle was my first James Twining book but it won't be my last. I have already ordered his second book, The Black Sun. This book had major twists and turns and the ending was so surprising. Can't believe this was Twining's debut thriller. I have to say that this book is extraordinary!

It is a Shelfari bug because it just happened to me in another post.

However, there is a way to fix it. You need to put the following HTML symbol at the end of the line where you want a hard return (without the spaces):

      [ br ] [/br]

Shelfari was hinky last night. I found if I left my post alone and then refreshed, my post was fine. I don't know if you've done what Lauren suggested yet.

Man, that was an awful lot of work and it double spaced everything. Not happy about that. Anyway, thank you Lauren for your suggestion. Jonetta, I had already shut down for the night, so that should have fixed it, but it didn't.

Now, the double spacing has disappeared, but every time I enter anything I have to refresh to get it to look like it should. Maybe a complaint to Shelfari is in order, from more than one of us??

What bothered me was how the narrator changed. It seemed kind of jerky, not a smooth transition from one narrator to another. I have read one other book by Perry, one of her Christmas stories, and it didn't seem to happen in that one. I definitely plan to keep reading, because I really enjoyed the story.

Sorry for the confusion. I didn't listen to an audio book. I meant that the story was told by different characters, and the transition from Charlotte to her mother, or one of her sisters didn't feel smooth while I was reading it. Also, Charlotte would sometimes call her mother by her proper name, instead of my mother, or mother...I don't know why exactly, but that just bothered me.

Silly of me to make that leap. I did think for a moment this might be what you meant. I hate when an author does a poor job in managing transitions between characters' points of view.

I liked it, but not as much as I wanted to. I have had it on my TBR for a while, and I was hopeful. I plan to read the next, and see how it goes. I think that I am a forgiving reader, and will give an author a fair chance. :)
