Christian Disciple-Making

Evangelism is a way of seeing the world through God's eyes. Arguably, the supreme business of the church is to carry out Christ’s great commission to preach the gospel and make disciples of every nation (see Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 9:37-38; 1 Timothy 2:4). Many great books have been written on the subject.

What are the Standard Expectations of a Christian?

Suppose a person becomes a Christian, a disciple of Jesus. Then what? Islam has its five pillars that spell out what a Muslim must do to be considered in good standing. But what is expected of every normal Christian?

I think after salvation our goal should be to become more like Jesus.

Let us go back to the Old Testament. It tells us whant to do. but it is too hard. No one has ever kept the whole law but Jesus. If that is not enough, add the sermon on the Mount. Now we are all in trouble. The operative word in Christianit is LOVE. To love the unlovely and to love our enemies is impossible in the flesh. Christianity is different because Jesus died for our sins, but he arose for our righteousness. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us and directs our paths. It is a one day at a time walk.
