I'm currently about to finish Wildwood by Colin Meloy, and it's pretty fantastic. Have you read Graceling by Kristin Cashore. It's another favorite of mine as far as YA fantasy goes.

"The Highest Tide" by Jim Lynch is one of the most poignant, entertaining, outrageously funny, YA coming-of-age adventure stories I've read in years. Hilarious and brilliantly written it is the debut novel by Lynch who has an amazing imagination that should propel him to the top of the literary charts. Truly exceptional writing and pacing with major laugh-out-loud situations that will have you guffawing with each recollection. What a wonderful way to start the year...5+ stars!!!

Just finished Cinder and it was awesome! ...but the sequel doesn't come out until 2013 :( One of the best retellings of Cinderella I have read (and I've read quite a few)

"Percepliquis (The Riyria Revelations Series)" by Michael J. Sullivan is the last book, chapter, and verse, of one of the most remarkable debut fantasy/adventure novels I have ever read...Michael hit it out of the park! Powerful, intense, dark, humorous, magical, original, and steeped in mystery, suspense, and edge-of-your-seat, heart thumping, action. The brilliant storyline is spellbinding and makes you feel a kinship with the lead characters unlike few books I've read over the last 65 years...you will think you are there! The atmospheric settings, extraordinary pacing, and wonderful characters/friends you will make while taking this journey leaves a knot in your stomach when you realize the story is coming to the end. If you are a fantasy/adventure/thriller aficionado don't miss reading "The Riyria Revelations Series" the marvelous story about a group of lovable people, led by two roguish vagabonds "Royce and Hadrian" who will remain in your heart and mind forever more......ALL AGES!

I am starting Rot and Ruin by jonathan mayberry. It is just barely young adult, but is definitely coming of age. I like the occasional zombie romp, and this is definitely that. By the way, this is my first post.

I really really wish that authors/publishers would somehow indicate whether their book was targeted at YA readers...
I know this sounds snobby and stuck up and ageist... but I am old ;) At least, I am the wrong side of 40 :)
I recently bought some books that were on the SF&F shelf and there was no indication at all that these were not adult books. I was surprised at how simplistic they were, and then I found out they were YA... I know that it is a sweeping generalisation to say that YA is simple, but the last really good YA books I read for the first time as an adult were Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials. Of course, the YA books I read when I was young, such as The Dark is Rising series and Enders Game are still favourites...

rant over, I'll go back to my book (currently not SF&F - Leif Perssons "Between Summer Longing and Winter's End)
