The First Law - Joe Abercrombie

Finsihed the first 2 books in a breathless stretch over 2 days. In the middle of the 3rd now.

Found him to be stunning addition to the "hard / gritty" fantasy pantheon. Full of real characters with character flaws galore.

The world building is scratchy at best, the gore is repetitive beyond a point, but the story touches a chord.

Patrick Rothfuss / Scott Lynch are obvious comparisions but I think the series holds up on its own pretty well.

I loved this Trilogy, couldn't get enough of it. The characters were so interesting & Abercrombie made me want to know everything about them. I plan on reading more of his stuff! Highly recommended!!!!!

I will have to look into these books. They have been recommended to me on Amazon for some time now I just have not got to them yet. I think I will pick thefrrist one up after I finish The Gathering Storm.

Abercrombie is not an author that any lover of gritty fantasy should miss. His first Law trilogy was loads of fun, and his next book, Best Served Cold, was no drop in the bucket either. His next book, The Heroes, looks like it going to be a barrel full of good times. Go buy this guy's books. He is one of the authors that deserves all the praise he gets.

The best Berzeker character ever is among the cast of the first law trilogy. I really enjoyed this series.

I am stunned by how well written this book is, especially since it is "first novel". I love series books and now have to go ask the library to get the third book if they haven't ordered it.

I am waiting patiently for the next book in the Song of Fire and Ice, but this will make the wait enjoyable.
