    Pimp your book

I decided to put up a permanent section for those Shelfarians that want us to know about the books they've written and want to advertise. That way, they're all together for those people that are interested in such things. So, all postings of this nature, unless within this discussion posting, will be deleted. Just to keep things simple. :)

Hello, I'm really new to the wonderful world of Shelfari but I like what I have seen so far. I recently published my debut novel; Fifth Sun: The Awakening. It is an action fantasy novel that explores the fulfillment of the Mayan prophecy of the Fifth Sun that is foretold to end on December 21, 2012. It is set in the modern era and weaves elements of telekinetic powers, secret government organizations and threads of a thousand year old story into the adventures of a young Canadian family who must save the world. For more information, please visit my website at www.fifthsun.ca
Thank you for the opportunity to spread the word!!!

Hey, I'll look out for that one, love the premise and it's on Kindle, too! I can't fit any more books in my house so that's important to me.

As she grows closer to achieving her goal, war between Arnhem and Speica is inevitable but she finds time to fall in love. Aislinn is willing to give up everything for the kingdom of Arnhem: her childhood, her life, even her heart. That sounds like a great premise. I enjoy a story with strong female characters. And that is a really unique premise. I hope it does well!

Shameless that you've provided a section for writers to "pimp" their scratchings. While I certainly don't condone the prostitutional nature of the idea, I applaud its entrepreneurial spirit. With that in mind, please check out THE WHEEL OF NULDOID on Amazon.com or at Nuldoid.com. And while I'm at it... here's the most recent review, this from Sacramento Book Review:

"This book is an absolute treasure, a story that would be great fun to read to one's children over the course of many late-night bedtime storytelling sessions. Who knew that such delightful little creatures, full of quarrels and bad grammar, could exist? The world beneath the surface of Earth is full of wondrous things, all detailed with vivid awe. The story is unpredictable, which makes it that much more of an adventure to read; for instance, due to the nature of death in Nuldoid, many characters are killed off completely unexpectedly. This is sad, from a certain angle, but the story continues along so smoothly that the reader quickly becomes engrossed in the next segment of the adventure. The plot twists and turns and snakes around a good bit, leaving you continuously wondering who's really good and who's bad. Ultimately, you will be left rooting for our three heroes: Warren, Lily, and Leo. All three are multi-faceted characters who the reader grows to truly care about. The ending is a bit of a surprise, but ultimately extremely satisfying. //The Wheel of Nuldoid// is a great story to get lost in."

...and blah, blah, blah. If money's tight and you sincerely want to read it, write me, I'll see that you get a copy. Seriously.

Seems we are all new to this site. Happy to know you all. My first book in my series was published in April. Chrysalis - The Awakening. It has met with several very good reviews and is starting to grow legs. If you enjoy letting your imagination go, if you are into vampires, witches and mortal conflicts and want a different take on my paranormal world, this novel is for you. A fast pace, smooth read at 600 pgs.

All families have secrets. At 32, Bree Campbell discovers her entire life has been a secret. A mortal born into a family of Magicals, she begins questioning everything and everyone around her. The prophecy told at her birth speaks of a Chosen One; the last and greatest of a long line of Chosen Ones charged with saving both the Mortal and Magical worlds. Bree must face this reality and life with her new family; a clan of vampires protecting her. The sorceress, Esmeralda, will stop at nothing until this Chosen One is dead. None could then oppose her and she would be free to rid the world of all mortals. Will Bree awaken the hidden powers and find inner strength needed to save the world?

I became tired of the same-old, same-old love stories. More adult but just as magical. Visit my website and read what others are saying. You can read part of the first chapter on amazon. If you are into the paranormal - you won't be disappointed.

Hello Shelfarians. I too am new to this exciting and delightful site and I am very pleased to make your acquantences. Let me start by saying thanks to the Shelfari.com folks for an excellent and opportune site. Bringing readers and Authors together in a friendly social network is a beautiful gift and I for one am thankful.

Now, on to business. A few years ago I played a game run by my brother called the Dark and Shattered Lands. From the world we created, I developed some interesting storylines with the help of fellow gamers and got to play them through to fruition. One of those storylines was so compelling that i had to put it in novel form. It falls under Fantasy as well as Spy genre's, a mix I believe that has been far to long neglected. The book is about a Minotaur whose entire world is shattered when his father is found to be a spy. In the society of the Empire of Ganth, Honor is everything and to disgrace one's self is to disgrace one's entire lineage. Pah'min, barely adolescent at the time, is stripped of his citizenship and exiled from his homeland. It is from this tragic beginning that he begins to follow in his father's footsteps. He is taken in by the unspoken named house of spies, the one named house of Ganth which is believed to be honorless and is universally dispised by all of the honorable citizens of Ganth. From there he is trained and sent upon a most crucial mission. This mission will ecompass the majority of his life and test him at every level. He must lie, steal, and murder to protect his identity. His physical challenges, though daunting, do not compare to the battle over his own soul by the two Minotaur Gods of the Pantheon. He will endure hardship, physical and emotional pain, and even unimaginable loss all to pay the price of his father's sins: the Price of Honor.

The Price of Honor, Book 1 of the Minotaurs of Algoron is available on Amazon and at my own E-store: http://www.gusgallows.com/bookstore.html. It is reasonably priced at $7.99. If you do choose to buy it and read it, I would love to read some reviews.

My name is Aaron Drown, and I'm the author of a literary fantasy novel titled A Mage of None Magic, published by Tyrannosaurus Press this past September. I'm happy to say that in the few weeks since its release, Mage has garnered some noteworthy praise:

“The writing is quite good, with some genuine moments of poetry ... It’s definitely a fine first novel.” – Charles Gramlich, author of Swords of Talera

“Fun ... fast and I’m looking forward to the next one. What more do you want?”
    – John Enzinas, SFSite.com

Mage ... is a fine new fantasy series with many fresh and unique concepts which will enchant and delight many fans of the genre.” – Midwest Book Review

"Okay, I give: Drown's book hooked me. I want to see what he does next." – Joel Rosenberg, author of the Guardians of the Flame and D'Shai series

Below you'll find the novel's specs along with a brief summary. For even more information, I keep a dedicated blog at www.amageofnonemagic.com that features excerpts and artwork. You can also visit www.tyrannosauruspress.com for details about the publisher.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or comments. Thanks!

    Hi,

Let me introduce myself; I am a New Zealand fantasy author with a story to tell …

After an intensive pre-marketing campaign, my manuscript 'Magician, Man and Beast' was the highest rated on NZ writing critique site 'worthyofpublishing.com' After several great reviews from publishers, but no bites, I decided to publish the book myself. A comic book artist, and illustrator, I created the distinctive cover (completely absent of text) and interior illustrations myself. I have just officially released my book.

    Publisher comments:

Thank you for the submission of your novel, Magician, Man and Beast. We enjoyed the sample and thought it showed great originality as well as indicating that the novel has a fascinating, suspenseful and well-structured plot.

However, we only have a small list at the moment and this not only makes the competition intense but also makes the decision about what and what not to publish very difficult. We’re sorry to tell you that Magician, Man and Beast isn’t what we are looking for at this current time – this is because we tend not to opt for thrillers or horror, or anything else that is overly genre-specific.

    Legend Press

I have read Daniel Williamson's work and think he is a fine writer. His artwork is also rather good. However, the novel MAGICIAN, MAN AND BEAST is very much a fantasy novel and the fantasy genre is somewhat outside our area of publishing right now. I will pass on this author's work, but I do think he is a talented writer and should pursue publication on a list, which specialises in this sort of fiction.

    Headline Publishing Group

Sorry I haven’t got back to you on this sooner. I’ve had a look at the manuscript and regret to say that it is not suitable for Voyager. Daniel has put together a dramatic story, though, and I’m sure the many visitors to your website will enjoy reading it.

    HarperVoyager

This almost constitutes almost two years worth of hard-work and endless waiting.

I believe my work to be at the forefront of a new creative movement classified as gothic fantasy; a seamless blend of horror and fantasy - mythic story telling interlaced with more adult themes, lending it a darker edge. A brilliant example of this is ‘Pan’s Labyrinth.’ This new style of fantasy has been made world-famous by the aforementioned Guillermo Del Toro, and Peter Jackson. I believe the industry, especially in light of the recession is operating a closed-door policy, where future works of art will be left out in the cold. I believe you; the public have a right to know what is happening. This is the real story behind the story. This is the dream that refuses to die.
