There's a whole wide world of books out there to recommend. Can you narrow it down for us a little? What books have you read and loved - or read and hated? Do you prefer certain genres?

P.J. Tracy's Monkeewrench is a good suspense/ mystery. All the Pretty Girls also is good (J T Ellison), The Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. Sara Paretsky also writes some hard to put down suspense/ thrillers/ crime novels. I like the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich for some light, humorous, mystery.

I, too, like Patricia Cornwell...another enjoyable medical/forensic/mystery/thriller writer I enjoy is Tess Gerritsen.

I plan to read some of her work one of these days. I've heard she is good. She writes a lot of Medical thrillers doesn't she?

Yes, she does write a lot of medical thrillers...I think she has a background in the field and it comes across in her writing. I keep hearing about All the Pretty Girls, so I am going to add it to my to-do pile!!

Right now I'm reading The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson. It's a mystery. Also Double Helix by Nancy Werlin. These are young adult books but all ages should enjoy them. I did. Is it okay to mention my two mysteries? Listen to the Ghost and Secrets I Have Kept, again YA novels.

Hi Britt. I'm Felicia Donovan, author of THE BLACK WIDOW AGENCY series of mysteries. I'm not sure what kind of mysteries you like, but I had the pleasure today of joining three other wonderful mystery authors at a "Mysterious Women" book tour. Briefly, there was Hank Phillippi Ryan, who just won the "Agatha" Award for her Charlie McNally mystery series about an investigative reporter; Susan Conant, who writes the wonderful Dog Lover mystery series; her daughter Jessica Conant Park, who writes the Gourmet Girl mystery series; and myself, author of a series about four women of all ages and backgrounds who have been wronged by their men and come together at a PI firm to help other women in need. I don't know if any of that fits the bill, but these are all very talented writers and terrific ladies.

Good Luck!

I quickly ran through your bookshelf and noticed that you don't have Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" or the rest of the "time" series. I read them as a young adult reader and STILL love them all! They're timeless. I would highly recommend them to you, especially since you've marked the Narnia books as favorites. "A Wrinkle in Time" is much different than Narnia...but it's fantasy and it was written in close to the same era (about 9 years later).

Anyway, I think the entire series would make a GREAT summertime read!

The Wrinkle in Time series was one of my favorites as a child. I must have read it half a dozen times. I was terribly disappointed when the girl child (a book nerd like her mom) couldn't get into them.

OMG! No book to read? That would drive me crazy! I have too many books waiting to be read, but that is a very good thing. Check out the Explore pages on Shelfari and see what other folk are reading. Also check out the NY Times best sellers lists, Today Show book lists, Oprah book lists, etc. Read a bunch of reviews. Sometimes I just check what Amazon.com has in recommendations for me. Do you read fiction, non-fiction, chick lit, fantasy, thrillers, mystery, novels, anthologies, or what? Anything by James Patterson is good for a quick light read. You might check out Sally Bissel's books, if you like rather starkly realistic graphic mystery/thrillers.

I'd recommend Dairy Queen by Catherine Murdock. And then the sequel, The Off Season. I really liked both of these.
