Hi, Kathy D. - Being a romance addict myself, I'd put it the other way around; but after saying that I'll suggest J. D. Robb's In Death series. No books I've read are as satisfying for both romance and mystery as that series. Slightly futuristic, but only slightly (newer technologies, but very believable), funny, steamy at times (main characters become husband/wife) and those same main characters are in all books, which is great. There are quite a few (20 at least) now, and someone commented that the last one was rather dark, but I haven't read that one yet.

If you like mysteries with romance and a little odd-ball, funny stuff, try Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. The heroine is real life, and the mysteries aren't solved with high tech equipment but by luck and hard work. If the books were movies, they would be rated "PG-13" or "R" because of the sexual references and activity but it all combines to make for a very good read.

I second Marie's choice. The In Death/Eve Dallas series is excellent. I have been listening
to almost all of them (Nora Roberts as J.D. Robb has written over 30 of them/two every
year). The series is a futuristic crime-solving series which plays out in the years 2059/60.
The AutoChef is my favorite NR creation for this time period. Eve ( a NYC detective) and
Roarke (one of the richest men in the world) are quite a pair. Wikipedia has a lot of info
about these two characters. The following site has the complete series info:

This series is habit forming, Kathy!!!

You updated me, Janice! It's been a little while since I read my last Eve D. book - but that Autochef is quite the thing. Coffee, especially. Her car always gets a laugh from me - even when she was issued a new one. Have to get into the next one for sure. And thanks for the link - I'll use it, too, even though I've read the books. More info is always great.

I just got #3 in the series. I am SO NOT a fan of sci fi - but, these books are just not that far into the future. And the futuristic gadgets are so believable. I love how they go "off planet", just like they were going to LA on a plane! I sure do have a bunch of these to look forward to. I intersperce them in between other books. Especially nice on MP3 player.

Yeah, the author does a wonderful job of making them not only believable but so enjoyable. The Shelfari people who listen on audio have said the reader does Roarke as well as Eve, and has the Irish accent down pat - makes it great to listen to. I hope to find one and enjoy it that way, but haven't yet. Is that how you listen to it on your MP3 player? Cd?

I use Overdrive from our library system. I log on to their web site and download to my computer - then on to MP3. And all for FREE! Of course, they don't have every one of them - so I am finding the books to read for the ones that they don't have. Prefer the MP3 version though. And yes, Roark's accent is wonderful.

Overdrive is a national program. You can check your library's web site to see if they subscribe. We should all use it so it will become more popular and not be at risk of budget cuts!

I've only read a few of Tami Hoag's but the ones I read had mystery/romance in them. I really liked "A Thin Dark Line". I need to get back to her. LOL

Try reading Kathleen E. Woodiwiss' books- Historical romance with a good dash of mystery on it.

Or, you could try Linda Howard's books- modern time mystery and romance.
