Gladly! And I love your title. I've recently published a novel, "Conscience Point," with Unbridled Books -- it's reappearing in soft cover in May. My previous novels include "Women Like Us," a Book of the Month club selection.
I also have a blog on Amazon Connects. Just go to "Conscience Point," click, and you'll find the blog.

I applaud your idea of hearing from the writers among us!

In full shameless promotion mode, a thought on the new paperback cover for my novel "Conscience Point," coming in May. The clever folks at Unbridled Books used a lush romantic cover for the hardcover, which captures one aspect of the book. But the novel is also a smack-down of pretentious soul-less media types in the Northeast, and the hard-edge paperback cover captures that particular aspect. Thanks guys!

I just tried to get that book at Barnes & Noble. I was told it's a "print upon demand" book and that they could order it. Never heard of that, though, so I decided to wait. Having been on quite a few cruise ships, it calls to me.
I'll probably buy it from Amazon once I'm back in Massachusetts (5/5) as I don't want to order something by mail and have it delivered to the wrong address.

Here is a blurb about my new book—ON THE CREST. Comments welcome: Tige Anderson goes through a series of emotional, physical and psychological adventures in this coming-of-age roller coaster, balancing his life among his romantic trysts, his ambitions, his humanity and his gay best friend. The one thread that connects all of the people in his life is the fact that the cycle of life puts everyone through a series of ups (‘on the crest’) and downs. Whether an individual winds up on top of the wave or under it depends on them.

    Prologue:

[A mind full of shadows which form long, dark points that pierce the heart through and bring to consciousness the fierce pain of reality. Hooded specters that travel through space and time gathering up pieces of memory and bringing them together to form one melted block of pain and pleasure called the past.

Were it possible to disintegrate as happens to dreams and tender moments. As powerful as these dreams and tender moments seemed at their inception, we come to realize that they are made of invisible particles of nothingness. Were it possible to just vanish like hopes made of tiny particles of nothing so would I be free of reality. And in that vanishing, would I finally be able to find peace.]

Those thoughts flooded Tige’s mind as he sat and watched the pointed shadows caused by the brand-new-morning sun crawl across the floor in front of him. He had been all alone in the solarium since the middle of the night awaiting the sunrise as he did on many nights since he was put into that place. It was his favorite time of day. Anymore, each minute of the day was filled with painful recollection and doubt except for this brief, fleeting moment. It was a time, it seemed, that the earth, like him, was confused. It brought him solace to think that at this very moment, the entire universe, or so it seemed, was in a state of doubt and he was not alone. It was the time when day was pushing back night, eliminating the last vestiges of darkness to assume domination and live out its brief lifetime before dying and willing its realm to its brother called ‘tomorrow’. It was a time of starting over, of another chance. Days rolled in one after the other like the waves at the beach. It made one think that no matter how tragic the events that occurred in one solar period, there was always another; there was always another wave.

Tige sat in his robe and pajamas on one of the couches in the solarium watching the morning sun get stronger, watching the streams of light come through the bars on the windows, hoping that the attendant would not yet realize that he was not in his room, which was where he should have been until breakfast which was still two hours away. He had done this so many times in the past but he was never discouraged from continuing to enjoy his moment of peace, but rather would endure the lectures from the staff about how everyone there must obey the rules so that all there could accomplish what they came there for.

The reward that he got from this solitude was worth any reprimand which may have followed from the staff. He knew that his time remaining there was brief and he could continue this practice somewhere else. This was his time to savor the self-induced, companion-until-death torment brought about by events which had happened before and could not be changed. This was his time to not only enjoy the companionship of hope for tomorrow, but also to flog himself with memories and guilt for things that he had been instrumental in bringing to existence. He had to torture himself for what he had done or for what he had not done. With an almost painful enjoyment, Tige watched the single line of gray smoke from his cigarette and recalled the days past. He watched the ashes fall off like expended days gone by. He watched the orange line of fire racing toward its end.

    Again, comments welcome.
The book can be purchased at barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com, authorhouse.com and many more sites. Thank you. Tony Carmine.

I'm a writer of non-fiction and poetry. I don't easily fit into any genre, except non-fiction. I started freelancing in 1972, and became a feature magazine articles writer for 10 years shortly after that, and have written four books. The books are what I'm pushing here. That's what I am now — a book pusher, but I'd rather be writing. I had a review of FROM THUNDER TO BREAKFAST by Alicia Hathcock, here at Shelfari a couple of years ago. It was excellent and started out with "I met the most interesting man last night." The man she spoke of, Hube Yates, died in 1980. Hube was the storyteller and I the writer. The story of his life began when his family moved from Guthrie, Oklahoma to Phoenix, Arizona in 1914. He was a little eleven-year-old pioneer with big responsibilities at the time. The book touches on highlights of his life. Luckily, he had an outstanding sense of humor and an easy-to-listen-to style. He described himself as being "a little cocky" when he and a friend ran away on horseback when he was a teenager. He grew up to become a firefighter, and a hero. Always a horseman, he was a hunting guide, and from that grew outrageous practical jokes. He did all this without cursing. Even the title substitutes the word "thunder" for "hell." I kept seeing the phrase "from thunder to breakfast" all through the manuscript, so that's what I called the book. The original "from hell to breakfast" is a Texas expression which means "scattered all over the place." One example was when he was in his late teens, and his family was visiting friends in Colorado. His younger brother and sister had to get back to Phoenix to start school, so Hube took them by the family Model-T down to New Mexico to catch a train. They were driving over a mountainous area that had a lot of switchbacks when he lost the brakes. He knew he had to turn the car over to stop it or they would have ended up at the bottom of a canyon. He had the boy in the back seat get down on the floor, pulled
his sister over to shield her, and did exactly what he intended. All four wheels were pointing toward heaven, and suitcases and boxes went from thunder to breakfast.

There is all kinds of information about me on Google. That would be the easiest way to find reviews, etc.

The secret of success 5000 years in the making
    Hello fellow members,

Have you read my new book "The Pharaohs' Code"?

Chances are that you have. Because "de facto" this book has become a must read for every success seeker.

Here's the link to the official site:
    http://www.ThePharaohsCode.com/special.html ... (surprise inside!)

It's the latest trend in the science of success, even though it delivers a message from 5000 years ago - a message that contains invaluable wisdom that has been true over the entire human history.

The reason I'm writing to you today is because I want to share with you the story that actually opened my eyes on life success, and made me write that book.

The key to one of the major transformations in my life was the Pyramid of Khufu, also called the Great Pyramid of Giza - the most magnificent and only remaining monument of the 7 Wonders Of The World.

When I entered it, I saw a narrow passageway that goes upward between huge stone blocks, exuding the ancient smell of mystery and magic.

After a long journey up the passageway, and even crawling through a hole in a wall, I finally reached the chamber of the King Khufu. It's a huge room at the exact center of the pyramid.

And I stood there for some time to observe the spirit and the meaning of the place.

Then I realized an important insight!

I felt that the Pharaohs had given me a message to carry to the world from 50 centuries ago.

And the message is that we can find our joy and happiness, and we can build an everlasting success only if we strive to stand out, like the Pyramid, make a difference and serve other people in every way we can.

And now, "The Pharaohs’ Code" reveals amazing secrets of the Pharaohs that will inspire you to find joy in your life, and hence make a difference and leave a legacy that ensures you, like the Pharaohs, will stand out and be long remembered in the hearts and minds of others.

OK I hope you enjoyed the story. I hope it's been helpful.

    To Your Everlasting Success,
Tohami, author of The Pharaohs' Code

P.S. - You see, I'm celebrating the official launch of my new book "The Pharaohs’ Code" in a big, BIG way. I'm giving away over 80+ hours of exclusive Success interviews with superstars like Jim Cathcart, Tony Alessandra, Mark Sanborn, Michael Gerber and more ($497 value, yours free!), if you order your copy before MIDNIGHT TONIGHT at: http://www.ThePharaohsCode.com/special.html

And just like everyone else who browsed through the posts without reading them, I hurried to the bottom of the page where I can shamelessly paste the premise of my latest novel (now available on Lulu.com):

Roy Connors, consultant for a top technology company, is the quintessential pursuer of the American dream, who through perseverance gains a unique mental disorder. When his only entrusted friend falls in love with a hot brunette, Roy’s already fragile life suddenly spirals out of control. Obsessed with the ancient symbols carved on a 3,500 year-old clay disk and ridden by jealousy, Roy follows the happy couple to their Cayman Islands retreat. The fates of the three collide with the arrival of the deadliest hurricane in the islands’ history. Descent The R. Connors Story is a psychological suspense delivering a rare glimpse into the minds of identity-shattered individuals. Written in a vibrant style it reconciles misconceptions about self, sexual duality, and the mysterious raw forces of Nature.

I have three books on the market: FROM THUNDER TO BREAKFAST (Hube Yates Stories), WIDOWHOOD HAPPENS, and THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT CAVE CREEK (It's The People). They're all non-fiction, the first a memoir about a pioneer who came to Arizona with his family in 1914. He was eleven at the time. They traveled by covered wagon. The man was a charmer, found humor in most things, became a firefighter, hero, horseman, and storyteller. Hugh Downs wrote the Foreword.

In the second book I wrote about widowed people and their experiences in dealing with the death of a spouse. Interspersed between chapters are interviews of professionals who deal with their problems. It's an easy read, honest and down-to-earth. The point of this is to get people to give it some thought and prepare for the inevitable as much as possible.

The third book, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT CAVE CREEK, is about the lifestyles of people who lived in a small Southwestern town in Arizona in the 1900s. It's full of characters — bar owners, cowboys, prospectors, sheriffs (one who didn't want the job, but no one else would have it) and a sure-shot no-nonsense woman. One man was born in Phoenix in 1875 and lived to be 103. Another was a squatter who lived near the County dump. I found these people fascinating. An added attraction is that the book contains black-and-white photos. Someone described them as old pictures. I call them historic photos.

I'll be glad to discuss them.

These books are all available from amazon.com.

I'm not working ON any books, but I am working with the authors of "Chasing Diana", Jack and Robin Firestone.

This book is amazing! It talks about the tragic accident that killed Princess Diana in August 1997, in Paris.
The authors witnessed the accident as they were right behind her convoy while on their summer vacation in Europe. Pretty incredible to be there at that time don't you think??

I'ts been getting really good reviews on Amazon: http://bit.ly/ChasingDiana

    Anybody here read it?

How did I miss this one? One of these groups got after someone who did this "shameless promotion" thing and was told to find the groups that does ONLY "shameless promotion" or get kicked out ot shelfari altogether. It must have scared me off. But since you asked, here it 'tis:

I am the author of "Becoming Alice, A Memoir" which is a true story, starting with me watching Nazi troops march down my street in Vienna when I was six years old. It's not a typical Holocaust story, although it has all the adventure of a harrowing escape and then the difficulties of trying to fit into a foreign culture. One reviewers words: "told with both pathos and humor, it brilliantly showcases Rene's triumph over adversity, identity crisis, and the sometimes debilitating power of family ties." Hi all!

My blog is called The Dangerous Pages Review and it is all about banned books- do drop by and see which of your favorite books have been banned (The Lorax, for example. Others include Twilight, Black Beauty, The Diary of Anne Frank, I Know why the Caged Bird Sings and the height of irony , Fahrenheit 451). Each new post is about a book that either has been banned historically, has been challenged or is banned or censored somewhere in the world - so you can keep returning to see what new- or classic- books are "forbidden".

(But really- ban The Very Hungry Caterpillar?)

I am only now coming out of a fog of 'too much to do - not enough time to do it.' We are winding down on our cross country vacation [granddaughter graduated in Oregon - we live in New York].

MANDY THE ALPHA DOG has an official publication date of June 2009 but already can be purchased on Amazon, PublishAmerica [under my name Paula Shene], and my ProStores site [really need to get much more posted there] www.paulandpaulasplazainc.com where you can get an autographed copy. 10 per cent of my proceeds will go to animal rescue.

Tony Peters did a review on his blog and there is a review on Amazon...both are impartial as I am not 'friends'....the book is aimed at 6-10 year olds and deals with Mandy's start in a puppy mill and on through her trials to become the leader of her pack. The book deals with fears, mistreatment, overeating, obesity, biting, forgiveness and redemption. This tale is also done in a humorous fashion to hold the younger set's attention.

    Back on the road...talk later...P

If you wish to live well, practice dying. Death and dying are universal human experiences. All that lives is transitory and will depart this life including our loved ones as well as ourselves.
“Encountering Life’s Endings,” my recently published book, encompasses practical, psychological, philosophical, cultural and spiritual aspects of death and dying viewed through the prism of the passing of my mother (94), father (89), brothers Al (69), Joe (46), Eddie (44), numerous friends and colleagues, as well as the highly acclaimed course on the subject of life’s endings that I teach. (In the Columbia College Chicago student grapevine, the rap on my course is: “You must take it, for it will change your life.”)
Interspersed throughout the book are the thoughts and insights of leading figures in the field of thanatology as well as diverse and illuminating teachings by eastern and western thinkers and spiritual teachers, ranging from Stanley Keleman to Thich Nhat Hanh. Readers are also provided with meditations and visualizations that serve to lessen the pain and suffering associated with death and dying, thereby enhancing the possibility of experiencing the last stages of our lives as a final gift to self and others.
Other life’s endings are also faced and dealt with in my book. For example, love’s passing; allowing parts of ourselves that serve to deaden our lives to “die” in order to live life more fully; birth as a form of dying to allow life to emerge; the casting off of normality to attain sanity; and living life as a stairway to heaven.
Written largely in the form of a memoir, the telling of life stories, hearts will open, emitting compassion for all sentient beings, and minds engaged, resulting in the deepening of how we think about, approach and experience the ebb and flow of our lives. And in the end, when all is said and done, you will be left with a reaffirmation of life.

    Hey gang,
I am so proud to announce my book "Coffee and my conversations with Death" is now available for the Kindle, iPhone, and iPod Touch. My book is a quick read aimed at men and men's health, but of course everyone would enjoy it. The story begins with the main character, Kevin hears a voicemail from someone claiming to be Death, and wants to meet for coffee. Over the next few days Kevin's views on life, people, faith, health, and Death will change forever. While the title seems dark, the book is actually light and filled with humor. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I had writing it. You may access the ebook at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002I62TO4
The print version will be available soon.

The uprooting of seven million civilians - women, children, and elderly men - from their homes in the German provinces of East Prussia, Pomerania, and Silesia following World War II is largely unknown in the United States. Weeds Like Us is a gripping true adventure story about my own East Prussian family. My earliest years were spent in relative comfort on my grandfather's farm in East Prussia during World War II. For me, life in Hitler's Germany was the natural order of things. Then, in January 1945, just after my seventh birthday, the Russians rolled into East Prussia. Full of unexpected twists and turns, Weeds Like Us tells the story of what happened over the next six years, as my family and I tried to make our way safely to the West.

I was born in Königsberg, East Prussia, in December 1937. By the time I was thirteen years old, I had lived in Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and in both the Soviet-Occupied Zone and the British Occupied Zone in Germany. After I came to the United States in 1964, I got my BA degree from Hunter College and my MBA from Pace University while studying at night. For most of my professional life, I worked as a marketing consultant to American and German firms at the German American Chamber of Commerce, followed by eight years at Bayerische Vereinsbank in NYC. Since my retirement, I have devoted my time to writing. My wife and I live in Chicago, Illinois.

Not every woman who rides the fertility treatment roller coaster winds up like Octomom.

Who will find friends, family, and fertility?

Three women’s lives are intricately intertwined, as Amelia Schwartz and Summer Curtis struggle with the complex dynamics of intrafamily embryo adoption, and Chandy Markum strives to make her patients’ dreams a reality.

After more than a decade, of mourning her parents’ deaths, anal-retentive Amelia Schwartz decides to take control of her life, pursuing single motherhood via embryo adoption. While her fertility doctor, Chandy, is preoccupied with the destruction of the cosmopolitan Cape Town of her youth and her first love in apartheid-torn South Africa, believing all is lost, her niece, a young, married, overachieving attorney Summer Curtis, juggles zealous career ambitions, demanding bosses, and friction with her husband over family and fertility issues. They must confront the painful reality that, no matter what technology humans devise to manipulate reproduction, prolong life, and construct family units, they have not yet mastered control over their beginnings and endings.
Thrown all into this is one story that can make or break. Are you up to it?

You write well. With an intriguing plot like that, they might be able to pull it off in a movie. Steamy as Basic Instinct? Hmmm. That'd be a great success. Congrats!

Nysa is an up and coming DNA retrieval expert well known in the scientific community for her advances in the technology used in the field. After being recruited to work on a secret project by an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious benefactor, Nysa is moved to a hidden lab outside Denver, Colorado. Isolated from the world and forbidden from contact with anyone outside the facility, she is unaware of the strange occurrences that begin to plague the planet. Her fiance Alastair becomes concerned about her welfare and, with the help of his father, begins a frantic search for her. They soon come to realize that their quest is producing more questions than answers, and some very unsettling questions at that. Only one person, the silent man financing the operation, knows the real nature of the experiment. Although unaware of his true identity, Alastair comes to realize his foe will stop at nothing to see the experiment through to its completion.

The title of my book is "A Fire's Shadow" ISBN: 9781438974590 at Authorhouse.com or anywhere on the web and at you local book store. It's a collection of twenty four short stories from growing up in Brooklyn New York during the mid sixties and no I wasn't a hippie, but a true to life greaser. Some of the stories are not for the squeamish, but then again if you ever loved someone then there are a few in it for you. Many are days gone by and some come from your worst night mares while running with the gang on those dark streets after midnight. Sure I can take you back to that warm snugly bed, next to your mom while she reads your favorite story on a cold rainy afternoon. It wasn't the story but the attention she gave you, while you listened to every single thought read off the pages. You never did get to hear the end for you were fast asleep by then. I will help you think again and to feel the times that have slipped away. Awaken and take my hand as we walk down that dirt road together, I will never leave you behind but carry you with me where you never were before. Good night and God bless. John Henry Clark

    Hello,
Following John Henry Clark's last sentence seems quite appropriate!
I have recently joined Shelfari as my new book is just released in USA and Canada and as well I am looking forward to finding some great reads. If anyone has read Good Night and God Bless: A Guide to Convent and Monastery Accommodation in Europe (Vol I) I would value your opinion of the book. I have tried to make it as physically attractive as possible (unfortunately the cover depicted on Shelfari does not show the rounded corners or the red ribbon bookmark) and include much more information than just details of cheap, clean and safe convent and monastery guesthouse accommodation. The accommodation in the book is suitable for male and female tourists, individuals, couples, families and children. Included is a review of each place, full contact details and directions and a couple of pages on local tourist activities, things to do and any 'must see' attractions. Restaurants, cafes and bars are also covered. A further section is devoted to accommodation for those people who wish to include some spiritual or religious activities in the holiday (not suitable accommodation for general tourists). Some pages of glossy colour photos are also included. If anyone would like to read the book it is published by Hidden Spring in New Jersey and is available wherever books are sold. In Canada GNAGB is available in all Chapters/Indigo bookstores and from Catholic and Christian bookshops. (BTW the accommodation in the book is provided by various Christian religious denominations).
Thank you and all the best from a warm and sunny Sydney.
    Trish.

Thank you, and so I'll be shameless & promote my novel.

Irretrievably Broken is the the haunting, funny, and heart-breaking account of German ex-patriots Nora, Ruth, and Bettina Adler. The plot takes us across the U.S, to the bush country of Canada, and to a cold case murder scene in Germany as this multi-cultural family deals with diversity and racism. The novel is populated with unforgettable characters in a sometimes shocking and always unflinchingly honest exploration of the past.

Nora is obsessed with her Native-American husband she’s about to divorce and consumed with guilt over a friend she may have caused harm; Ruth, whose blunt statements are often inappropriate, witnessed a brutal murder and saved a life during the Holocaust; and 12-year-old Bettina, the mixed race child of an African-American and a white German, is devastated by the death of her mother and neglect of her father.

IRRETRIEVABLY BROKEN is a novel of family and friendship, of love and loss, of guilt and forgiveness, of faith tested and affirmed.

Two weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of attending Authors' Autograph Party at Auburn, WA (south of Seattle) to read from my book. One of the attendees who bought my novel just emailed me that she not only finished, but loved my book & wants to purchase & for me to autograph addt'l books she wishes to give as gifts. How sweet is that! BTW, if you are a Kindle owner, my novel is currently on a 99 cent amazon summer sale for Kindle readers.

My latest book is DARE TO WEAR YOUR SOUL ON THE OUTSIDE. No, it's not about shameless self promotion!! It IS about shameless self-discovery, about saying Yes! to your own hopes and dreams and No! to other people's agenda for your life. It's also about reaching out to others and helping them do the same thing. Let's face it... most of us settle for a life that's too small for us. DARE TO WEAR YOUR SOUL... shows you how to live the life that is meant just for you. It begins with a very personal story about my dad and how our family's life changed "overnight" through the power of faith, determination, and the kindness of a stranger... Nobel-prize winning author, William Faulkner.

I had a book released earlier this year "Rebekah Redeemed" - a first century historical novel. I'm very excited that my book has great reviews and a five star rating on amazon.com and barnes&nobel.com.

In November I have a novel coming out that I'm working on the final title and cover art with the publisher. As soon as the title is settled on, I'll share it with everyone.

(Note: This is definitely not shameless self-promotion. I am ashamed.)

"The dumbest woman is smarter than the smartest man."

Yes, folks, that line was barktated to me by my famous little dog, Genevieve, as part of her new book, "Small Dog, Big Life: Memoirs of a Furry Genius" (May, 2009, Simon & Schuster). And I had to translate it all from Doggerel into English. (She also made me type it, because she was afraid of getting carpal paw syndrome.)

Genevieve is not very impressed by human intelligence (especially the male's), rating us somewhere above turtles, but below gophers. Her book is actually written for other dogs, but humans seem to find it funny (which, Genevieve says, is just another indication of how dumb we are).

In addition to her writing career, Genevieve is the founder of the canine activist group Dogs United against Discrimination and Unfairness, or DUDU ("You're either wallking with DUDU or stepping in it"). So far DUDU has led campaigns against sports teams with canine nicknames (Bulldogs, Timberwolves, Coyotes, etc.); expressions that demean dogs ("going to the dogs," "sick as a dog," "dogging it at work," etc.); and a worldwide canine jihad against Michael Vick, which requires all dogs to hunch over and poop immediately upon seeing Mr. Vick on television.

Genevieve will be happy to answer any questions you might have. She is also looking for an old dog with money.

I have been working on a book now for about 3 months with the working title Allergic Reaction about a girl who has an allergic reaction which causes her to have super human powers. She is haunted by her past and is searching for her father which may give her a better understanding as to why she has these powers and why her mother kept telling her to control it before it destroys the world.

When her quest to find her father and the answers to her condition become a race for survival, she will stop at nothing to get them.

    Hi all,
Just joined your group. I have a YA novel published this year called "Brown Skin Blue". It's only available in Australia at the moment - I'm hoping the Frankfurt Bookfair this week will present an international offer. Feel free to check out my website www.belindajeffrey.com

    Here's a blurb about it.

Barry Mundy has brown skin and blue sin and, at seventeen, those two colours define his life. When he gets a job at the Croc-Jumping cruises on the Adelaide River in the Northern Territory, he carries a list of names of the men who could be his father. They’re all dark for different reasons and Barry hungers to know whose blood flows inside him. All he sees when he looks in the mirror is a brown mask that hides a blue secret.

I've had some great reviews. Pretty excited!

    Hi there!
What a great way to get noticed! Thanks.
I've just had my second novel published by Black Leaf Publishing Group. It's available on Amazon. It's called 'Cold Hell in Darley Dene' and is a ghost story, written for teenagers but with themes and a storyline that everyone will enjoy.
The action of this story takes place in the years immediately after the end of the Second World War. The details are recalled by ‘Uncle Ben’ who was a twelve year old at the time. He and his friends play in a derelict area known as ‘Darley Dene’. This place used to be an army camp during the War. During the terrible March blitz on Merseyside in 1941, the camp was suffered a direct hit and many men were killed. When the story unfolds, the underground bunker in which the men sheltered is long forgotten, buried under a mound of rubble and earth. But Ben’s adventurous streak leads him to rediscover the bunker. In so doing, he uncovers a great deal more. He is being ‘visited’ by the spirit of his dead father, who was killed in a commando raid in the War. His father seems to be guiding him and protecting, most notably against the horrible bully, Neville, who is intent on making Ben’s life a misery.

Ironically, it is Neville who is with Ben when they become trapped inside the bunker, and both boys relive the terrible events of that awful night, being witnesses to the fate and suffering of the men sheltering inside.
Give it a try - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

How great to have a place to plug one's book without having to be embarrassed at being shamless. My first novel, "FLYING OUT OF BROOKLYN," is available on www.amazon.com, or on my website, www. beverlymagid.com. It's the story of a young woman, during the over-heated summer of 1943, whose dreams were never fulfilled, who's dissatisfied with her job and her marriage, but sees the chance to change her life when she runs into Bobby Levitt, a returning war hero with his own guilty secret. This is all played out against the homefront of Williamsburg, Brooklyn during World War 2, a community which is both close-knit and stifling to anyone who is slightly rebellious. This includes Judith's brother, Sammy, who gets in over his head with the local mob. After this summer, nothing will ever be the same.

Anyone who has wished for the life they once dreamed of, but never got will understand and empathize with these characters. Reviews have been favorable, including Kirkus Discoveries, which called the book "heartfelt and ambitious."
