    Your Favorite mystery series?

Any time I find a good book, I hope that there will be more. I feel like I've lost a friend once a series has ended. Often there are some really lame entries into these series, but I read them anyhow! I enjoy the Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown series with Mrs. Murphy. I also enjoy the J.D. Robb In Death series.

The Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters, the Mary Russell series by Laurie King, I'm presently reading two series by Margaret Frazer, one with a nun whose name I am not going to try to spell, and the other with a 'player' from the 1400's named Joliffe.

I read all the Cat Who mysteries by Lillian Jackson Braun and enjoyed them, as well as the Agatha Christies. Lord Peter Wimsey by Dorothy Sayers is my all-time favorite and the second runner up would by the Nero Wolfe books by Rex Stout.

Oh, I adore Brother Cadfael and Laurie R. King's Mary Russell books (less so her others). I sort of went off the "Cat Who..." books after a while though.

Clea - I tired of the "Cat Who.." books as well. Not so eager to pick up the latest, but still have fond memories of the first ones I read. :)

I have a few favorite series. Irene Kelly series by Jan Burke, Elvis Cole series by Robert Crais, Alex Cross and Woman's Murder Club by James Patterson and Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich. I like you enjoy the series type stories because you get the connection to the character. Right now I am reading The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver. I read somewhere that this is the first in a new series for him. So far so good with this one. Maybe a new favorite in the making.

My all time favorite is,The Southern Sister Mysteries by Anne George. There won't be anymore of this series unless a ghost writer picks them up.Anne died a few years ago.I'm still looking for my second favorite.I hope I've found them with Carolyn Hart.I just picked up a book,it will be my next read.

Which is the first book in the Southern Sister Mystery series? I looked it up on Amazon, and couldn't tell. Looks interesting--I'd like to read them in order.

I loved those Southern Sister Mysteries. I didn't realize Anne George had died. Phooey...

The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich has to be my favorite, but I've got a few others I enjoy almost as much...both Faye and Jonathan Kellerman's- Peter Decker/Alex Delaware; Sue Grafton- Kinsey Milhone; J.A. Jance- Joann Brady. There are a few other "mindless" mystery series that I like, too- the Abby Cooper series by Victoria Laurie; Casey Daniels Pepper Martin series; the Debutant Dropout series by Susan McBride...I could go on but those are some of my favorites!

I know what you mean. Series are like friends. I just got the new Colin Cotterill "Dr. Siri" book and I'm excited to read it (they're set in Laos and really very funny). And I'm revising the fourth book in my own Theda Krakow series. It's going to be called "Probable Claws," and it picks up three months after "Cries and Whiskers." Probably won't be out till early 2009 though. Sigh!

My favourite mystery series is by Michael Dibdin, featuring his Italian detective Aurelio Zen. Dibdin's writing got better, richer, deeper with each book (including his non-detective novels), and my favourite of the series is 'Blood Rain.' Unfortunately Dibdin died suddenly in March of 2007, and the final Zen book was published posthumously - titled 'End Games.' Dibdin lived and taught at the university level in Italy for four years, and his knowledge of it's history and modern complexities adds fascinating depth to his stories. I highly recommend the series.

I really liked the Harry Kemelman Rabbi mysteries. Also the Sue Grafton alphabet series.

I just started one of the Camel Club series, "Stone Cold" by David Baldacci. So far so good. I think I may have to go back and read the previous titles.

I am now a Thursday Next fan. I just read "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde. I loved it, so I have to purchase the rest of the series. I don't read a lot of Scifi mystery, but this was delightful!
