I would add to these Boris Akunin - Russia. He is Georgian himself but lives in Moscow. Fun reads from the 19th century.

I concur with you on Mankell and Simenon, haven't read the others.

      Hi
I am 'still traveling' and would like to recommend
      KAREN FOSSUM
      MIYABE KIRINO
      PETER HOEG
      PACO IGNACIO TAIBO II
      ANDREA CAMILLIERI

We don;t need a passport to enjoy mystery/suspense/thriller novels from around the world.
      Keep 'em coming.
