Dewey: the small town library cat

So I'm about to read Dewey: the small town library cat. Has anyone else read it and what were their thoughts about it? I'm curious how you guys would feel about having a library at your local library?

I read it, and thought it was a great book. I was a bit upset that it was a little more about Vicki then Dewey, but I tended to skip past the Vicki parts.

At our library, we do have a cat, and she is loved by mostly everybody. She likes being up high, so she tends to sleep in the childrens' section a lot. The only bad thing is that we have a ton of white cat fur everywhere, and as much as we try to keep her in the back, she's got a mind of her own.

Loved it! Very sad at the end - so watch out!

It was an enjoyable book. I'd like it if my local library had a kitty - 'my' small , two blocks from my house branch - not the big main library - poor kitty would get lost.

I listened to the book on CD, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found myself laughing and crying while listening. I am a cat lover so I related to the book on a lot of levels. Our library did have a cat at one time, but not while I have worked there.

I checked it out, but didn't have time to read it... I'll get back to it someday. I don't know if a cat would do too well where I work (Twinsburg Public in Ohio). We are a big building... and who would clean his litter box? :-) We do have an unofficial "library dog" though, since my director has an adorable dog and brings her in on a regular basis.

I haven't read it, but plan to. I would love to have a cat at my library; however, we too have a large building, and I have a feeling there would be an outcry about allergies!

I was born in Spencer, Iowa and grew up just a few minutes away, and as an avid cat lover, I had to read it! Loved the whole thing and cried a LOT at the end. I think a cat at a small town library is awesome. My sister and I were always at the library while we were growing up - in even smaller towns than Spencer.

oh wow, we actually HAD a library cat named Dewey, but she lived outside the employee entrance. She never came inside. I saw the thread title and I was thinking "How does anyone on here know about dewey?" lol, didn't know it was a book. good laugh.

Wonderful book--couldn't put it down! I've yet to talk to someone who's read it that didn't like it. Wish we had a library cat, but our main branch is so big, I'm afraid a kitty would get lost. There are some small libraries in the area that have cats, though.
