The Descent of the Celestials (An RPG)

Love…crazy things, some have done in the name of it. It’s a universal term, understood by every conscious being on this Earth—and in the Heavens. Angels, too, understand this concept; they are conscious beings, I’m sure you’ll agree. Some, rejecting their duties for the sake of finding it with humans, have been cast down from the skies to fall a...more »

    William:

Walking up toward the convenient store I saw that someone was already working my shift but I doubt that I had been late at all. I looked down at my watch and saw that I was right on time, quite odd. I looked over toward Cassandra and nodded my head for her to go in first and noted the step that people had to make first before walking in. Once in I smiled at the guy, Dan, working and he almost sighed in relief, thankful that I had actually came in for my shift and not skipped out like so many before me had done.
"Wait one moment, I just have to go in the back to get it," I said to Cassandra.

      Cassandra:
I smile gently and step inside, sighing happily at the warmth. "Alright," I reply when I see William going to get his sweater. I check my wavy hair in the mirror before jumping up to sit on the counter, swinging my legs as I wait for William.

      William:

As I come back I see the other guy had already left, glad to be out of his shift and headed home I guess. Seeing Cassandra's long hair stretch down her back while sitting by the counter was a little surprising. I rushed over to her and gently lay the brown sweater on her lap. "I'm not sure if you care but it's a little old, you can still wear it if you wish." Resuming my position behind the counter I take in how her hair moves around her shoulders as she examines my sweater, being at my age there wasn't a way I couldn't find that at the least bit attractive. I didn't dare however stare to long at her face, I hadn't had the chance, always standing beside her from the school until here but I decided against my better judgement and stared out across the store to see the people that were shopping.

      Cassandra:
I hop off the counter and slip on his sweater, smiling as I inhale his unique scent. "Thank you again William," I say turning around to face him and smile as I lean against the counter. "So is there anything I can do to help?" I ask again, my eye studying his and appreciating how nice his face looks, almost like it was sculpted.

      William:

The sweater fit her really well, matching her dress almost perfectly and allowing the bottom to flail out like a dress normally would do, other than the fact that it was meant to be a guys clothing item she wore it like her own. I remove my eyes from her and glance around the small store and spot a few things out of order in a few aisles that needed to be fixed but I couldn't attend to them because I needed to stand at the back of the desk at all times. "There are a few things that need to be picked up off the floor and put back in place if you really want to do that," I said, pointing exactly to the different things that I spotted. Wait, what was I doing, I was letting her help me even though she probably wasn't going to get paid for this, was I just slacking off...but for some reason I couldn't deny her offer to help me any longer. There was something about the way she moved and held herself, so much confidence, that made me like being around her, more of a comfort really that made me really not mind her company.

      Cassandra:
I nod, smiling at him happily. "Sure, no problem." I reply as I head off to the aisles, making sure my hips sway as I laugh to myself softly. I bend down to start picking items up and glance at William with a smirk.

      William:

I was looking at her as she walked off, her playfulness definately showed within her. She would have no problem fitting into the school now. My attention was diverted from her when a customer walked in and I greeted him, he was wearing a huge army jacket, rather to big for a man his size but who was I to judge. He walked up and down the aisles, ignoring the upbeat tune on the radio that most customers, guys and girls alike, sang to while shoppinng and continued to look at me from time to time. This wasn't good. I had gone through experiances like these before and I had been able to handle them before they got too out of hand but I uneasily looked at Cassandra. Would she be alright? Of course I didn't want to make an assumption that he would be the kind to steal so I played it cool, keeping one eye on him and the other at Cassandra.

      Cassandra:
I meet William's gaze and know exactly what's going on. I sigh, of course as an angel, I'm required to step in and resolve matters. I walk so I'm in front of the guy and look at him with a blank face. "Do you really want to try and steal something just to impress a girl?" I ask, exasperated. "Go and get her some flowers and then ask her on a date, you don't look a badass by stealing from the local store."

      William:

The whole scene happened in a blur, for one second I saw Cassandra making eye contact with me and the next she was right infront of the guy. I stared wide eyed as the guy grumbled, shoved the aisle wear a lot of glass figurines were and moved past Cassandra, ignoring me entirely. I wasn't sure if my mouth hanged open but I was still very confused, I had never, in my life, seen someone, especially a girl stand up to someone that could have been a potential threat. That's right, he cuold have been dangerous and she just stood up to him like the only weapon he could have been carrying was a toy gun. I waved Cassandra down as I saw more customers come in, not wanting to make a scene I needed to know what happened without the whole store knowing.
"How in the world did you do that," I quietly exclaimed, "did it not occur to you that he could have been holding a weapon, a gun perhaps."
My quick remarks toward her were surely out of worry but more of worry for her than myself.

      Cassandra:
"He was giving up all the signs and yes, I made sure that he had no weapons." I reply soothingly, placing a hand on his to try and ease his worry. It's not like I could die again anyways even if my perfect judgement was off a bit. "Now is there anything else you need me to do William?"

      William:

For some reason I continued to boil up but when she touched my hand I felt calmer, all the worry and anxiety leaving me in one flush. It made me exhale and not to mention her voice was somewhat of an angel's calming voice. I tried not to think too much about that fact and compliment that I made to her inside me head. "For now, there isn't anything," I looked up at the clock and saw that it was almost time to go, about ten minutes left. "I'm about to get off work soon anyways, thank you for your help." I meant these words sincerely, she had helped in an almost robbery case and had helped around the store, she was more help than I could be thankful for.

      William:

The minutes go by rather fast and in that time I hadn't said a single word to Cassandra but in fact, it didn't seem like she minded eaither. On occassion I saw her tilt her head back to catch a glimpse of me but that was the furthest our interaction was. A girl popped her head in the the market, chewing her gum like usual and made no remark toward me, this was what she always did. "It's time to go," I say to Cassandra and move fast out from behind the counter and toward the front of the market. As I walk outside the day has turn into darkness and I see a couple of cars pass by, their high beams on. I hesitated for a moment, waiting for her to come out, "Would you like to get some coffee," I say, "tomorrow, as a thanks for helping me today?"

I follow William outside and muse about how quickly it get darks now that it's getting colder. "I'd love to." I say softly while smiling before pulling out my phone and sighing. "Could you maybe walk me home if its no big hassle?" I ask sheepishly. Yep, my fake parents texted me that I have to walk home.

      William:

Giving off a warming smile I tuck one hand in my pocket and with the other I throw it out infront of me, in a gesturing motion, "lead the way." This was no problem at all, I loved to walk, especially at night and nothing ever really happened to me on my walks. The trees that lined the streets were dark, having almost lost all its leave but December was coming soon and there would be lights covering the entirity of the massive trees. I continued to walk, following Cassandra this time, "How long have you lived here, you just started school right?"

I smile warmly back at William before replying, "About a week ago, it's been a bit hard considering how small Miranda is." I explain sighing slightly. "You're the nicest person I've met so far."

      William:

I laughed a little at her remark, "I'm really not nice, I'm sure there are better people than me." I wasn't sure though, I didn't talk to anyone else, I didn't talk to a lot of people actually. My regular day consisted of school, work and then preparing meals for my mom and I once I got home. I looked down at my watch, 8:30, that's fine, she must still be sleeping right now. My mother usually slept during the day and then went to work at nights, I only saw her for a short time each day but she has made sure she never miss a chance to see me atleast once everday.

I shake my head. "You're also one of the most selfless people I've ever met." I continue as we walk. I want to help him with everything, make his life perfect, but he'd grow more as a person through the hardships.

      William:

I blush slightly at the compliments, no one had said those things to me before and it felt comforting and made me feel a sense of self-satisfaction. I never looked at the things that I do with any sort of pride, I did things as I thought they would satisfy and moved along. "Thank you," I simply say, not knowing what else to reply in such a great compliment that she had given me. The lights were growing brighter now, hardly any cars passed anymore and it just seemed to be Cassandra and I walking alone along the road. I followed her steps, not knowing where I was supposed to go.
"The lights look beautiful tonight, don't you agree?"
