The Descent of the Celestials (An RPG)

Love…crazy things, some have done in the name of it. It’s a universal term, understood by every conscious being on this Earth—and in the Heavens. Angels, too, understand this concept; they are conscious beings, I’m sure you’ll agree. Some, rejecting their duties for the sake of finding it with humans, have been cast down from the skies to fall a...more »

I walk out on the roof of the mall. I know I'm not supposed to be up here but it was easy enough to get here. I like tall places where I can feel the wind and see the sky. I look up at the bright cloudless ocean above. I guess I like it so much because I won't get to go up there when I die and I want to see as much of it as I can before that day comes. I sigh and a tear slides down my cheek. I have sinned, but no matter what I do I can't seem to find peace. No matter how many times I confess. Maybe I am meant to bare this pain for that sin which was forced upon me.

    Autumn:

I walk into the mall's bookstore. My parents were both working, and I didn't have anything to do today, so I figured I'd at least get a good book to read. I found the novel I was looking for and hand it to the cashier, along with a twenty dollar bill. As I'm waiting for my change, I see a big, burly man looking at me. Our gazes meet, but he looks away abruptly. That was odd, but it didn't seem to matter. Of course, I'd find out later that, yes, it did matter, it mattered greatly.

I walk back out of the mall, hurrying to get back to my car because of the looming, gray storm clouds above. I didn't particularly want to get rained on. As I'm opening the door, someone pulls me back. Too shocked to do anything, I realize it's the creepy man from the bookstore. "You didn't do what we wanted, little girl," he says cruelly. "Oh, you'll pay..."

"Let go!" I scream as loud as I can, and try to break away from the man's grasp. This was a futile attempt, no duh, considering how much smaller I was than him. "ALES!" I scream again.

"Oh, shut up!" he says, and injects something into my arm. A few seconds later, all I see is blackness, Ales's name still on the tip of my tongue.

      Ales:

I'd been wandering around the bookstore with Autumn, and eventually, we split ways, she off to wherever looks for books and I off to a biography section. I'd lost track of time after a while, and finally look up from the titles on the shelves to go locate Autumn. I do a round through the bookstore, peeking into each row of shelves, but am unable to find her. I mutter under my breath, starting to grow anxious, but become thankful for my height when I see Autumn exiting the store. Ah. She probably couldn't find me, either, and assumed I went out to the care already.

I follow at a slower pace, taking my time to leave the store and navigate my way through the parking lot. I even get lost at one point and am still lost now, inspecting the sea of cars and looking for hers....

      "Let go! ALES!"

I freeze, and my heart stops. Oh my goodness.

I look around frantically, trying to figure out where Autumn's terrified scream came from. "Autumn?!" I call out, my heart pounding and myself freaking out like I've never freaked out before. I start running, looking out for Autumn or suspicious men or suspicious vehicles, and am so caught up in searching that I nearly get run over...by a big black windowless van. Oh, no.

      Autumn:

I drift in and out consciousness, whatever drug that was injected into my arm making me very sleepy. I fight to stay awake, but waves of blackness keep closing over me. I faintly hear Ales calling my name, and say, "A-Ales?" I try to say it louder, but then the man gags me. It tasted like sweat and goodness knows what else. Then he picks me up and throws me into the back of the van. I crumple into a ball on the floor.

    Arielle:

The loud sound of voices hit my ear like thunder. It was so loud. It always surprised me whenever I came into the mall. I would never get used to it no matter what I did. One of the things that I did like about the mall was all of the color. It was like a rainbow, moving throughout the whole building. Some people would think of me silly, because of my weird opinions. I wouldn't care though. I would just ignore it and continue on with my colorful dreams.

      Saevus:

Per usual, I'm a quiet presence drifting behind Arielle. I hardly speak -- only when I'm questioned or spoken to in a way that requires an answer -- but I'm always willing to lend a helping hand. It's why I'm here today in all my gentle-hearted glory, having decided, whether against Arielle's will or not, to come with her so that I might carry her bags for her from my own money that I insisted she have. We've known each other, she and I, for only a few months now, but we're quite familiar. We met this way or another, here or there, and I, being persistent and believing in love at first sight, haven't let her slip way from me. Of course, I've kept her close in the subtlest of ways. We're friends. That's all.

      Arielle:

I turned my head quickly, a grin smeared across my face. It was always lovely to have Saevus coming along with me. He was just too kind. "Did you have anywhere you wanted to go?" I asked gently. I wanted to make sure that he had a chance also. It only made the trip more fun when he had his rare opinions also.

I shake my head, speaking up for once. "No." In all truth, being with Arielle is all I want right now, Arielle and her beauty, Arielle and her sweetness. Oh, look at the gorgeous smile.... I makes my heart beat in an erratic way, it makes me blush. Then again, I blush over many things....

"Alright." I said turning back to look around the mall. Where did I want to go? Sometimes I just wanted to look around and sometimes I actually wanted to get something. It was this time, I real iced that I wanted to get Saevus something. But what would he want? I hadn't known him for a long time, but it felt like I should know what he liked.

      **Sorry XD I'm lame!**

      Saevus:

Just as I'd been doing, I quiet follow Arielle and study the back of her head, as I'm trailing after her a little bit. I should get her some roses. I think that would be nice, romantic.... I'm building up the courage to say something or do something, but it's not quite there yet. I wonder if she'd be uncomfortable with the age difference.... This body is the body of a nineteen-year-old boy, I'd say, because that's how old I look. I know that Arielle is seventeen...that's a two-year age difference. But, maybe she doesn't mind all the much, or wouldn't.... I haven't asked yet, of course.

**I could change her age so it would be less awkward XD**

      Arielle:

My eyes hurried over the never ending stores. There must be something that he would like somewhere here. I glanced back at Saevus, thinking. I really couldn't believe myself at the moment. Icecream? It was hard to go wrong with food right? "Do you want some icecream?" I suggested, hoping he would say yes. If he didn't, I would have another lame try at guessing what he liked.

**Oh, I don't mind age differences in RPs XD Somehow I find it more interesting....**

      Saevus:

I give Arielle a shy smile, shrugging my shoulders. "Only if you do." Frequently, that's always my answer. I'll do whatever Arielle wants as long as she benefits, but she doesn't ever need to do things for me. That's sort of my thing, being selfless. I don't know how to be any different.

His answer only made me smile bigger. "Come on then." I said cheerfully, grabbing his arm. I quickly walked to the icecream shop that was only a short distance from where we stood. "What flavor do you want?" I asked, peering through the glass.

      Saevus:

It should also be stated that I'm quite indecisive. The easiest thing to say is, "Whatever you think I would like," which I actually do say, looking over at Arielle sheepishly with my warm, brown eyes. My thin-fingered hands clasped behind my back, and I smile shyly.

I heard his answer and looked to the man behind the counter. "We would like two bowls with one scoop each of peanut butter cup ice cream please." I said, reaching my hand towards my purse. I retrieved the money and handed it to the man after getting our ice cream. "This is my favorite." I said smiling towards Saevus.

"It sounds...Heavenly," I say, smiling at my own inside joke. And, it really does; oftentimes, even though I know it's wrong, I'll lie to someone to make them feel better. I have the hardest time thinking that I may hurt a person's feelings, and say "no," is incredibly difficult....

(They are so good! THE BEST candy. :D)

      Arielle:

I watched his face, waiting for his reaction. Would he actually like it? Or could he just be pretending. That was what I doubted. He wouldn't lie. He wasn't that type of a person. "Go on." I said expectantly. "Taste it!" I squealed. I really wanted to know what he thought about it. I cared about even the little things.

I follow Arielle's command and try this intriguing "peanut butter cup icecream," and immediately find a new weakness. I've always enjoyed peanut butter, but I don't often allow myself to indulge in things I enjoy, so I never actually tried peanut butter paired with chocolate. "It is indeed Heavenly," I reply, laughing quietly to myself and looking at the floor.

"I'm glad you like it," maybe it was now his favorite too. I always loved seeing Saevus happy. It always made me happy too. My feelings were often shared with his. I watched him, zoning out. He was so cute. I hadn't forgotten the first time that we met. It was one of the best days of my life. We had become best friends in such a short time.

**I was assuming that was the case.... Did you think otherwise? I'm sorry!**

      Saevus:

"Likewise." Once replying, I don't speak and finish my new favorite sort of icecream in no time, concentrating on eating it so hard that I actually ignored Arielle for a minute. That's what I intended, see; I'm always looking for ways to reduce embarrassing myself. Every time I look at her, I blush rosy pink and wish I wouldn't.

I glanced out the window, into the herds of people. You could still hear their loud chatter, but it was softer. It was kinda nice. I smiled, just thinking about it... being here with Saevus. I spent more time with him then my family probably. I never really saw them.

When I don’t think Arielle is paying attention as she looks out the window, I glance over at her and quietly study her profile. Unconsciously I sigh in a longing way, bringing my gaze to the floor eventually. I’m nineteen—or, died when I was at least—and was fearless when I lived; why am I so shy now that I can’t even tell this girl how I feel? My past is something of a mystery. I would love to share it with her, and moreover the reason I’m here now as something other than human. It’s a complicated issue, a complicated situation….

"Whats your favorite color?" I asked suddenly. I asked Saevus this question many times. I always enjoyed hearing his answer. I thought that it could have been his comforting voice, or just the exact way he said it. My bright eyes flashed quickly to him, with a slight smile.

      Saevus:

I smile. I’ve heard this question many times before, and have always answered in the very same way: “I do not have one,” I reply simply with a slight shrug of my shoulders. “Each color is beautiful in its own right.” Of course…there is one color above all that cannot be beautiful to me not matter how many beautiful things are colored with it: red. I only ever see blood. And, the color has to do with why I named myself Saevus; not even Arielle knows my real name. I don’t wish for her to. There are many things I wish to keep close to my heart for many reasons.

I smiled, also thinking about my own. "I think that I might like purple the best..." and after thinking for a while more I decided on another color. "Maybe even red?" I suggested. I did like the color red. I liked red when it was bright, similar to the color of my hair. It was an exciting and vibrant color.
