Autumn:
I walk into the mall's bookstore. My parents were both working, and I didn't have anything to do today, so I figured I'd at least get a good book to read. I found the novel I was looking for and hand it to the cashier, along with a twenty dollar bill. As I'm waiting for my change, I see a big, burly man looking at me. Our gazes meet, but he looks away abruptly. That was odd, but it didn't seem to matter. Of course, I'd find out later that, yes, it did matter, it mattered greatly.
I walk back out of the mall, hurrying to get back to my car because of the looming, gray storm clouds above. I didn't particularly want to get rained on. As I'm opening the door, someone pulls me back. Too shocked to do anything, I realize it's the creepy man from the bookstore. "You didn't do what we wanted, little girl," he says cruelly. "Oh, you'll pay..."
"Let go!" I scream as loud as I can, and try to break away from the man's grasp. This was a futile attempt, no duh, considering how much smaller I was than him. "ALES!" I scream again.
"Oh, shut up!" he says, and injects something into my arm. A few seconds later, all I see is blackness, Ales's name still on the tip of my tongue.
