Any genre, or pure literature?
Started by Bonita M, Tuesday, December 25 2007. Last post 4 weeks ago.

Would you like to add other genres with a southern setting, or does everyone want to keep the bookshelf strictly literature? What's your pleasure?

Getting no response to this question, I went ahead and added some more Southern books to this group's shelves. I feel that one person's literature may be "just fiction" to another, making it a fairly subjective term. I hope some of you will enjoy these books or at least enjoy perusing the titles.

I am glad you added other southern fiction. I agree "literature" is subjective. I like to read it all and love southern fiction (and some non-fiction).

I just finished BETWEEN THE TIDES. A good read. If you like Dorothea Benton Frank and Anne Rivers Siddons you should enjoy this story. Loved MUDBOUND also.

I love reading anything in regards to the South. Fiction ( especially Civil War era and Depression era), and any non-fiction published such as histories, folklore, ghost-stories, arts and crafts, diaries/journals,...even tombstones, obituaries, and census records if they catch my attention.

Hypatia--let me suggest Dr. Alan Brown's ghost story books. He teaches English at the University of West Alabama. Most of his books rely on interviews, which he accurately records. You can hear the people talking in your head!
