Damn! I am so jealous of you americans with your library book sales.Maybe twice a year my library has a little trolley of old books for sale. They are usually at least 10 years old, books that have sat on the shelf unread for a decade, mostly nonfiction about management accountancy, old car manuals, books about golf, celebrity bios,.....After 2or 3 weeks the trolley disappears,I presume the books are pulped or burned.Checking my records, from library sales,.I got only 4 books in the last 5 years - one a book of maps, one a book about cooking potatoes(!) in various styles, one, which I admit is excellent about cooking in general, sort of from a catering course on general cooking, very practical, comprhensive and useful, and also one which I love,Sister Wendy writing about famous paintings. This was $40 new,I got it for $1.50,major bargain. The cover was a bit tatty, but the interior was in perfect condition. But as far as fiction is concerned? Zilch, nada. They may have half a dozen category romances, mostly large print, lots of crime novels which I have already read, but for the most part there is nothing worth bothering with!.Never any UF/PNR,or science fiction.I presume since to save money they only get genre books in paperback, the books are read till they start falling apart, and are destroyed! Bummer! It all leads to a very depressing chance of getting my favourite authors cheap.I have NEVER seen Jim Butcher, only 1 J D Robb in 8 years of searching, not one Kim Harrison,Kerri Armstrong,Darynda Jones.L K Hamilton etc.I normally like to read books first from the library, and if I truly enjoy them, are 4 or 5 stars,I would love to own them.but library sales are no use whatsoever.4 books in 5 years? Hopeless.
