    Shelfari joins the Amazon Family

We just announced that Amazon.com has acquired Shelfari! This is a very exciting time at Shelfari and there are a lot of new opportunities in the future that will benefit all members. In the meantime, members will continue to have access to the great community and tools that you've always known and used on the site. You can continue to build virtual bookshelves and socially interact around the books you care about at http://www.shelfari.com/.

We look forward to working with Amazon to continue with our mission of building great communities that celebrate books. Thanks for your interest in Shelfari and Amazon.com.

    Happy Reading,
    Amanda

Amazon has done some great things. I just want to make the statement to them to please let the Shelfari Admins keep up the good work! Pass it along!

Huh. I was sort of under the impression they owned you already (probably from some whiny blog post from back when that whole invite debacle went down).

I'm not going to start on the 'Shelfari has sold out, maaaan!' line. I trust you guys to keep doing good the way you have, and even to reap some handy assets from this new partnership. Also, congrats!

That's terrific! I'd like to take this opportunity to say (in contrast to my usual suggestions and critiques) that I absolutely love Shelfari. It's an amazing resource for all book lovers. This news about Amazon is truly exciting.

Congratulations to the entire Shelfari support team. I can't give you nearly as much praise as you deserve. A quick shout out to Amanda, the main moderator of the two Shelfari help forums. Amanda, you're truly dedicated and absolutely amazing.

This is interesting news. I only hope this will not prevent Shelfari to extend its search mechanism also to other databases but Amazon one, as the Google Book one, for example, otherwise books not listed in Amazon will never be available. Furthermore Amazon is strongly oriented to book that are on sales, but there are a lot of interesting old books that are published no more and are available only in used book stores.

I love Shelfari as it is and with a few improvements I have seen suggested. I thought Amazon owned you already from the copyrights at the bottom of the page?
Just don't let this site go commercial and away from its current objective of a book lovers community.
