This has long been something I've bested Barnes and Noble about - they don't have a bookshelf in their own site to help you have a sense of every CD you've ever bought categorized or every book you've ever bought listed/on a shelf.
And here comes shelfari. A great idea, but wouldn't it be great if you could mass add books you've purchased rather than looking them up in ones, twos, and threes?
The partnership could be with new ebook publishers (ellora's cave, etc.) but also could track physical books and ebooks you own. It would have to limit Shelfari's access to payment and cost details (I don't know if I'd feel comfy with you knowing how much I actually spent on books altho you knowing the list price is ok) and you shouldn't have access to things like how often i buy books, with what credit card, or my payment details, but knowing all my titles, authors, genres, etc., would be great.
Many dedicated readers tend to have their "top stores" they regularly go to and it would be great if, just like how when I joined I could invite all my friends via my email accounts (gmail, hotmail) if I could add all my books via my bn.com, amazon.com, borders.com, etc., accounts.
spares us the tedium, gets you more data! you can share limited data with your willing bookstore partners! win win win! :)
