Hi, I'm a huge fan of the Book Extras. I was recently reading A Game of Thrones, and with hundreds of characters to keep track of, the Characters section of the Book Extras sure came in handy!
While I was reading it, however, I quickly realized that even having all the characters on one page, it was still difficult to find the one you wanted to look up -- Mainly because of how many there are, and the order they're presented.
So now I've finished the book, I thought I'd re-order them into something more helpful for new readers, but I was saddened to see how difficult it is to edit the ordering using Shelfari.com. I was expecting a system similar to Wikipedia, but sadly it's much less flexible than that.
I have a few ideas that I think will make it easier to improve Book Extras, and so increase the quality of the content on your site, as well as increasing the chances of more users getting involved in creating Book Extras.
For a start, it would be great if you could just drag and drop characters into the order you want them to be.
Secondly, it would be fantastic if you could group characters under headings. For example, in A Game of Thrones, it would be very useful to group characters by household (e.g. Stark), or by their jobs (e.g. The King's Council).
Anything that gives us a bit more flexibility, but while making it easier to edit would be great. (Seriously, Wikipedia's system works fine -- please consider something similar!)
Finally, it would be great if you could search in the Kindle software for character names. With over 300 in A Game of Thrones this is something else which might help!
Thanks a lot.
