    What about Audible?

    Save Changes Cancel
I "read" books with my ears, rather than my eyes. Audible is owned by Amazon. Why don't my Audible books show up when I import my Amazon purchases?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I'd like to check first. Please give me two or three titles that you're looking for.

    Thanks

ok - as suspected, things produced by Audible.com are there - you just need to seach within the main record for the work and look for "audio download" and/or "audible.com"

Here's an example for the Editions tab of "The Colour of Magic" by Pratchett

    The Colour of Magic
Audio Download, by audible.com. | see this at Amazon.com »

Since this is an audio version and the original is print, the information provided on the main book detail page relates to the print version. You can go to the edition page, find the audible edition for your works and select those to display on your shelf.

Some but not all audible.com books will be on Shelfari but they are hidden behind a blank blue cover. When doing editions tab work, I put them into the audio categories to make them more visible but you can NOT search for these books on Shelfari.

You just have to hope that someone has done the editions tab work to make them more visible.

    Here's what I do (I am a BIG audible.com cutomers):

    1) Find the audible listing on Amazon
    2) Find the title on Shelfari and/or do a search to get as many of those titles as possible (combine them.)
    3) See if the edition from #1 is found
3.1) If the edition IS found (hiding behind one of those blank blue covers), upload a copy of the cover from Amazon and edit the editions tab (if needed) to indicate this is an audible.com download.
3.2) If the edition can NOT be found; create a book for it and use the cover from the Amazon page; combine it with the other editions on Shelfari.

You can also search on Shelfari using the "ASIN", which is the unique identifier for a specific item on Amazon. For example, the audiobook for "Time Keeper" http://www.amazon.com/Time-Keeper-The-CD/dp/140132634X/ref=tmm_abk_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1354041526&sr=8-1 has an ASIN of: 140132634X. The ASIN appears after the /dp/ in the URL or is oftentimes listed under "Product Details". When you search using the audiobook ASIN, it will appear as the first edition in search results: http://www.shelfari.com/search/books?Keywords=140132634X/

I haven't found that to be true.

Of course, it could be the search problems we are having. Especially since Amazon announced the Kindle/Audible.com sync editions (I've bought a LOT of these!) and the Kindle/Audible.com Immersion read editions (Don't have the Fire model(s) so I've not bought these but have been marking them with special language sets when I encounter them on the editions tab of titles.)

Whenever I use the ASIN for an audible.com edition, I get that "not found" result.

Thank you everyone for your replies. However, all of the replies seem to indicate that, in order for my 250+ Audible books to show up in Shelfari, I would need to search each one, and then add each one individually to Shelfari. I REALLY don't want to go to that much trouble just to have them show up.

My point was: Shelfari is an Amazon company. Audible is an Amazon company. Why can't I simply click on "Import my Amazon Purchases", and have them show up? I would think that would be within the realm of Amazon's technical possibilities.

Maybe it'll be a future enhancement (in case anyone from Amazon is reading).

I agree with Randy; hoping that since both Shelfari and Audible are Amazon companies, there will be some future integration with Audible and Shelfari. Would be nice to be able to automatically include all the of books I have in my Audible account.
