Good premise, but I didn't like the utter inequality between Elena and Raphael, in the sense that he could crush completely her at whim. Never really warmed up to him and I thought she should have shut her mouth at any number of critical intervals during the story. Too many magical creatures and too much action for my taste. But the writing was otherwise quite strong.

Wish I could do half stars: this was a B-/C+. Started stronger than it ended. I really didn't like where the end took the heroine - away from her family. She needed distance from her sister, but she won't have her mom and her niece in her life much in NYC. Also, for a Blaze I thought the love scenes were kind of uninteresting. The O'Sullivans trilogy was hotter.

This was pretty good. I liked the progression of the relationship between Rye and Dulcie, although I thought her tendency to turn to alcohol when stressed might not magically go away with Rye's love and the resolution of her father's lynching was not too satisfactory. The most interesting thing to me was that Dulcie was...kinda horny - she could get off with men she didn't even like. Honestly, Rye's acceptance of this was a little fast. Not that she didn't have other good points, like real estate, that could have been factored in in her favor, but still. Flawed characters - at least a flawed heroine and a decent romance. B-/C+

Only read the Carla Kelly story and thought all the details worked out a little too easily. The second-chance-at-love premise was good, but the fact that her kids fell in love with her hero so easily and at such awkward ages emotionally - both were in their teens - seemed a bit too pat.

Ramona is SO naughty in this one. I canNOT imagine what I would do if my 3-year-old invited all her friends for a Saturday party and never told me about it.

Better than her last one, Delicious, but not quite as good as Private Arrangements. The central conflict here was a little thin - either that or the heroine is just too damned sensitive for her own good because this marriage could have been save with one long, painful conversation.

Road romances aren't my favorite, but this one, involving as it does a Muslim uprising against the British in India/Pakistan was historically interesting.

Listened to this on audio and enjoyed Dubner's narration quite a bit. I find their conclusions here to be both enlightening and, strangely enough, comforting.

This series is consistently good. I was glad to see Harper get her emotional "reward" here for all of what life dumped on her.
