    I started with A Great and Terrible Beauty yesterday and I love it! I'm trying to turn it into a bestseller in my bookstore too. It worked with Twilight. Hopefully the Dutch readers will like it as much as the American and English ones.
    Sometimes we need something light to make place in our heads for all the intellect books. And you must begin to read all kind of picture-books ^_^, to know which one is good enough for little Rowan's shelf. ( I've just read Ella Burfoot's Darkness Slipped In. A really sweet picture-book about a girl who's not affraid for the darkness in her room. Maybe something to keep in mind for over a while, when your little girl is afraid in the dark.)

    You're going to be a Mommy within 9 weeks! Wow, how time flies! Did you already had your baby shower? I wonder if your little baby is going to be just as bookhungry as you are ^_^. I love the name you picked for her! There are fantasybooks of Nancy Springer about a girl calls Rowan Hood who lives with Robin Hood and his outlaws. The name reminds me of those books. I loved them.
    It must be very special to read to your little girl. What a good way to start her life.

    Entomologist often use humidifiers to relax specimens. However, the damp sand technique previously mentioned should work too. Mostly, just put some ethanol and water in a closed container with a specimen and leave it for a while. It is best if you loosely wrap the butterfly in wax paper and let it rest vertically so that it is not in the actual moisture but just the humidity. Good luck!

    Hi. Completely understandable. The book wasn't depressing though - she was strangely upbeat. Completely long winded, but upbeat.

    Anyway, I've been feeling rather similar lately. I've been in this mood to curl up and read all of Jane Austen's novels, just because her characters always prove to be faithful companions. In the 'Better than Starbucks' group on Shelfari I asked if there was anyone interested in reading all 6 and discussing (discussions will not only revolve around the books, but the way that they affect us with what's going on with US - true to Jane Austen therapy form) and the leader of the group asked that I start this Jane Austen book club within his own group. Would you maybe like to join me in this endevour? If not, that's completely fine. But I know. I'm in a constant struggle between there and back again. If you need my support - you have it.

    hey! i was curious about the question you posted in the fairy tales retold group. it's pretty great and was on my mind this very week. why do you ask about trees? is it for a class? for me, i saw this fun sequence in the movie 'babes in toyland' set in 'the forest of no return' and it reminded me of the ents in the lord of the rings movies/ novels. the trees in the former had great singing voices though. take care!

    I hope your pregnancy is going well. If you haven't read the Vicki Iovine pregnancy book, read it now!! I learned more from it than I did reading "what to expect..." I reread this book during two more pregnancies as a refresher. Vicki is down to earth and tells it like it is. I see you are wondering about pain meds during labor. I had quick labors with my first two, so didn't really get the choice. I lived through both with the lamaze breathing. My third pregnancy was twins, and I was trying to get my epidural at each visit, just to make sure I got one. I did get it on the day of labor, and it was fabulous. I could still feel the contractions and the urge to push, but without the exhausting pain associated with labor.
