I've been an avid reader since the day I was taught how. Books have gotten me through every phase of my life, whether it was reading to escape, reading to learn, or reading just for pleasure. I'm always shocked when I find out someone I know doesn't like to read. I almost feel like I need to covert them to the ways of the Bookworm!
I often have a kind of book A.D.D. and will have a variety of titles going at the same time. I generally have no issues keeping stories straight, and I love bouncing back and forth between a mystery/thriller, a non-fiction, a historical fiction and why not throw in something "young adult" just for kicks! I typically have a hard time getting into Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre, but some of my favorite series are classified as such and I don't shy away from at least reading a sample of something just because its classified a certain way.
Speaking of samples, I'm also a new Kindle owner, having *just* received my Kindle 2 from Amazon on September 26, 2009. I adore it already and have become a bit of a sample addict! Being able to read the first chapter, or bit of chapter, and all with the speed of a 3G download!, is an amazing feature. I know I'll be branching out into reading new things I might never have picked up otherwise. I'm also on a mission to clear up my bookshelf of paper books (which was a mission I've had for a long time before Kindle) and I adore participating in Book Challenges (such as the 50 Book Challenge). I look forward to being able to more easily engage in and track some of those things here now!
