Goodnight Elizabeth

Goodnight Elizabeth

My love of reading was rejuvenated after devouring the Twilight saga. I unabashedly enjoy reading paranormal romantic literature. My favorite series are Dark Hunter, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Psy/Changelings, Southern Vampire Mysteries, and Midnight Breed. I wouldn't have ever discovered these series if it hadn't been for my fellow Gutterites on... more »

I just finished Angels’ Blood, the first installment in Nalini Singh’s new Guild Hunter series (to be released March 3rd). As a big fan of paranormal literature, I’ve read many series regarding vampires, but never have I read about them in this fashion. Ms. Singh creates a new vampire mythology based on conventions her readers may already recognize. While the new series is quite a departure from Ms. Singh’s popular (and wonderful) Psy/Changeling series, her superior writing, story-telling, characterization, and ability to enthrall her readers is still very present.

In the Guild Hunter world, vampire hunter, Elena Devereux, tracks down wayward vampires … that is until the archangel, Raphael, has other plans in mind for her. Angels’ Blood will be a delight to new fans and old. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, Angel's Kiss.

I wouldn't exactly call this Phury's book, because it focuses on so many other characters; however, I found it deeply engrossing, addictive, and irresistable to put down. I read it in 12 uninterrupted hours. It may be my favorite one so far...maybe second behind Book #2.

I did not enjoy this book. It was silly and ridiculous. I've not read any other Christopher Moore's books, so maybe this is his schtick. Maybe I missed the point. If you wanna read about vampires, read something by Stephenie Meyer, Lara Adrian, JR Ward, Kimberly Raye, MaryJanice Davidson, and the list goes on.

The Midnight Breed series is comparable to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. If you like one, you will like the other. However, I think the writing for The Breed is much better. The vampires in The Breed are unique. Their females are strong, powerful, and beneficial in the fight against the Rogues. Great series!

I really liked this book! It's quick, cute, and an easy read. It's not great literature, but it's worth reading. (if the gals from the lex read this...there's not a lot of baking.) I recommend it anyway. Derik, a hunka hunka burning werewolf, has to kill the beautiful Sara, a nurse and PhD, because she is going to destroy the world. Hilarity and romance ensues.

There aren't enough adjectives to describe how much I love this book. The series is phenomenal, but this book is special. It will grab you by your heart and not let go. I'm not saying it's mushy because it isn't. It's not a harlequin romance by any means. Run to the bookstore!

I've read this twice, but it's been years since the last time. It is very different from all the other VC Andrews books. This is one of my favorites.

  • Snow White

Postmodern to the extreme! This is not Snow White as you may remember. If you aren't into postmodernism, you may not like the choppy nonsensical writing between the chapters. It pushes the envelope of what constitutes a "normal" book.

  • The Complete Poems of John Wilmot, the Earl of Rochester

Rating: NC17. The content therein is lewd, vulgar, obscene, and more often than not, grotesque. Do not read if you are shy or faint of heart.

  • The Time Traveler's Wife
    • Rated 5 stars

This book will forever hold a place in my heart. I read it as soon as it came out in 2004. While the book's 2nd main character is a time traveler and that is VERY important, it's not the heart of the book. The enduring relationship, love, bond, and committment between Chaire and Henry is what makes this book a standout. Keep a hankie close by. *TTW will be in theaters soon. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams as Henry and Claire, respectively.
