Free Flowing Thoughts
Regarding my OCCUPATION, I work at Heinemann, which publishes books for teachers (how to be a better teacher, not text books) and as Marketing Assistant, I update the website, make promotional flyers and postcards and emails, and help out at conferences (which allows me to travel a bit and letterbox in new and different places!) among other things. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my job and the company, it's fabulous.
Regarding my favorite books, I could go on for days, but I like anything weird and new and different and imaginative and not boring. This usually includes comedic novels, feminist lit, psychological/sociological studies, some science... Oh and here are some more of my favorites: A Walk in the Woods, The Bust Guide to the New Girl Order, Everything is Illuminated, The Devil Wears Prada (the movie was so lame in comparison!)... oh and my two favorite magazines are Bust (for women with something to get off their chests) and Bitch (feminist response to pop culture). They are both brilliant magazines and once you start reading those you'll never go back to the crap that is Glamour and Cosmo. Ew.
Regarding my favorite music, I like everything except hardcore death metal and real honky-tonk country (as in, I like Johnny Cash but not so much of the Garth Brooks). But most of the music I like falls under "indie rock". But I absolutely adore electronic music and indie rap as well, and I have a particular soft spot for any bands who combine multiple genres. And I love covers of songs done in other styles. For instance, the bluegrass cover of "Gin and Juice" and the jazz version of "Welcome to the Jungle." I used to work at the radio station in college, and I had a radio show that was all cheesey music. I absolutely love cheesey music from the '80s, like Bon Jovi (my cell ring tone is "You Give Love A Bad Name"), Hall & Oates, Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, The Bangles, etc. I can make mix tapes for just about anyone, I swear. I LOVE making mix tapes. :)
Regarding my favorite movies, I love any of the movies directed by Miyazaki (My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke), Wes Anderson, or Christopher Guest (I LOVE Best In Show), Monty Python (Ni!), and any movies featuring CHRISTOPHER WALKEN. He rules. I love weird comedies and independent films, and Bill Murray. And Johnny Depp. And Christian Bale.
Oh and I'm engaged and have no kids (unless you count the cats). :)
