What would happen if everything we relied on from medication to groceries simply stopped? This is a very real and sobering threat that is actively being ignored. Read the book, it gives plenty of moments for reflection on our over reliance on technology.

Well this will change the way I view food forever. Aside from the mental gymnastics his philosophies force him into, Michael Pollan lays out a startling and sobering view of industrial food and the veil intentionally dropped between us and what we eat. Definitely worth a read.

The most concise and well written primer on the founding of this nation. Simply a must read for anyone interested in the driving force behind the thoughts and beliefs of our founding fathers. Written in a simple but not simplistic manner and broken down into bite size categories, this should be required reading for all high school students.

Justice Thomas was my first introduction to the disconnect between reality and the media perception. Reading this book was inspirational and heart breaking. This is man who deserves admiration for taking his own path and fighting through adversity.

If your looking for a biblically based method of parenting this is it. I have 5 kids and the challenge of parenting is overwhelming enough without the fad of the moment parenting. I prefer to build my family on principles proven by time.

A "new" history of the New Deal. This really opened my eyes to how we got where we are as a nation and the creation of the welfare state. A highly readable history of a dry subject.

A sobering view of the future with a declining population in Europe, and non-assimilating immigrant populations it could be the death knell of the West. Mark Steyn can take the most disturbing topic of our time and add enough humor to make you laugh out loud. Definitely worth a read.
